Crap! Forgot my friend's a doctor!

How do I write a table card if my FEMALE friend is a doctor???

Mr. and Mrs. John Lowe?

They just got married in July! I don't even know if she uses HIS name as a doctor! What do I do?

It would be:

Dr. Jane Lowe & Mr. John Lowe

Dr. Abigail Jones and Mr. Adam Jones
or
Mr. Adam Jones and Dr. Abigail Jones
or
Mr. and Mrs. Adam Jones (some women choose not to use their professional titles socially)

yep, this is it

my cheap aunt is a dr. so for our e-party it was:

Dr. Joan Cheapskate and Mr. Scott Evencheaper

I would ask your friend first.

Many women do not use their professional title socially. Ask how she'd prefer to be addressed. (How did you address the invite?)

I think it can also be:

Dr. Susan and Mr. John Smith

you're right... I addressed the invite 'Mr. and Mrs.'... maybe I'll just leave it. Save myself ANOTHER headache since this would require a CHANGE to the tablecards I already ordered!

Good call.. thanks!

Trust me, she will NOT be offended... unles she's a Guestzilla! Most people don't really use their professional titles socially, anyway... so don't change it. It'll be fine!!

I wouldn't be so sure. There are many people ou tthere (some invited to my own wedding) who I would think would be very cool about it, but secretly get annoyed....

I ALWAYS address them as doctors, no matter if everyone else says no.....ASK HER.

And make sure you ask her how SHE does it, not how she prefers it, because she will say 'whatever'.

I guess I just don't assume everyone who gets invited to a function is so oversensitive about their title... Most people understand, but I am sure there are plenty of people out there who get secretly annoyed.

If in doubt, ask her. I'd at the very least ask if she uses his last name.

Ha, me too!! I was like 'wow i cant imagine being close friends with mine and gossiping with them while i was laying half naked on a table and they were 'chilling' up there.

It is not incorrect to write:
Mr. and Dr. His First Name, His Last Name

I admit, this was my first thought, too!

yeah, but think about it, if you sent that much time, effort, and money in school and possibly a residency (i don't know what kinda doc she is) you may get offended if someone just threw that away - especially if they took off the 'dr.' and then called you 'mrs. wronglastname' (meaning dh's)

i'd personally just ask her.

heh, you could also go with ms/mrs last name, phd/md/do (depending on her degree). though that's more of a publishing name than a place card...

i honestly never understood why i had to address guests to my wedding as 'Dr.' As someone mentioned before me it is their professional title only and this is used at their workplace. If someone has a PHD you wouldnt address them as Dr. to a wedding just like if someone was a lawyer you wouldnt write ESQ at the end of their names.

I peronally put Mr. and Mrs. on every single invitation regardless of their proffession and if people will be insulted that i didnt put 'Dr.' that just shows theyre shallow =)
