FFIL!!!

So we all decided that we would keep the kids invited to the wedding to a minimum - just the 2 FGs, RB, my 4 first cousins (under 13) and a couple of FH's second cousins that he's close to. I think that's like 10-12 kids total, enough for ONE table of their own.

This morning, FFIL is like, 'You think if we have any room, we can invite kids?'

I tried to keep my cool but I said something along the lines of 'this is a wedding, not a baptism where there are kids running around all over the place.' I said that I thought we decided to keep it to first cousins and a couple of the second cousins that are close.

he's like oh I'm talking about 1st cousins. I'm like who??? He tells me this idiot cousin of his from NJ. I'm like come on, that's YOUR 1st cousin, FH's 2nd cousin and their kids are FH's 3rd cousins! THAT WE DON'T EVEN KNOW! I'VE NEVER MET THEM IN THE 11 YEARS I'VE BEEN WITH FH.

I'm like please, lets try to keep the kids to a minimum AND being that our guest list has grown to 350, i doubt we'll have room for any additions. he's like oh well they won't come if their kids aren't invited, it's hard to find a babysitter. I didn't even speak after that for fear that I'd call his family a group of idiots.

You are good for standing your ground while maintaining your composure. Seriously?? 350 invited? If people can not find a babysitter for a night then they should really just stay home. Lame-o!

Yeah we were hit with that as well 'if kids don't come then they might not be able to come b/c they need a babysitter'. Really? Fine, don't come (plus if you cant afford a babysitter, you def won't be covering the plates! ha ha ha)

Although I'm not at the 350 mark, my sister and her family (2 adults, 3 children) who are flying in from Floriday, was able to find a babysitter within the past 2 weeks. However, apparently, FH's sister-in-law has been unable to find a babysitter, although its been 2 years, and its being said that she will not be attending. I feel as this is their last ditch effort to get us to change our minds and let their children come to the wedding - which has already been brought up several times.

People are either going to make the effort or not.

If it was so important to invite them then he should've thought about that before since you wedding is next month!
