My FG will be 8 when we get married. She's also a little bigger for her age. My BM's are wearing black. Because she's a little older, I think she'll look ridiculous in a typical FG dress. My mother is appalled by the idea of me putting a kid in black. Do you think I should get a traditional white dress with black on it somehow or just go with the black? Here is a pic of the dress I was considering for her that matches the BM gowns:

This is the dress I am using for my 'junior bridesmaids.' I have my 4 little cousin's in my bridal party. So I wanted the older 2 to feel more special, they will be 8 and 7.
Honestly, I don't like that for a girl that age...I would stick with the traditional white.

I like the second dress for her... I personally don't like a little girl in black either- what does her mom say? if they are okay with it, and it's what you want, then it should be fine

I would do a white dress with a black sash. so she's distiguished from the BP but still matches

I guess I'm backwards on this, I never liked having the FG in all white like a mini-bride. I really like the black dress that you posted, that would look nice and elegant on an 8 y/o, she'd prob feel more grown-up. If she's ok with it, and her parents are ok with it, then go for it; it's your wedding so do what you feel comfortable and assure your mom that everything will look great once it's all together!!

Hope you don't mind..but here are some cute black and white FG dresses I saw. Personally, I'm not too sure I'd put my FG in all black...but that's just my opinion..

i dont see what the problem is? she'll love the black dress cause she'll look like the grownups. what's wrong with a kid wearing black? i think it'd be fine.

The FG is supposed to look like a mini version of the bride. I was going to have my FG dress in ivory w/ Tiffany Blue flowers, a dress that looked similar to the BMs but changed my mind later. I really wanted her to look a lot like me, despite her age, she too is 8. If I were you I would go w/ the white/ivory dress and use accents of black that will complement your bridal party. Unless she looks more like 11 or 12 years old, then I would get a JR BMs dress for her. It's really your judgement. Take her for fittings and see what she looks best in. Good Luck!

i think it looks fine and i don't think there's anything wrong with it. then again, it may not be worth starting a controversy with your family over. maybe do white with black accents - or even black with white accents to lighten it up a bit.
as i said though, i think it's fine and go for it if you like it. if i'm having a flower girl (still debating that) i'm thinking of a dark brown for her.
