FH and I both sick.. UPDATED***

So FH has been sick since last wednesday with a fever and stomach pains. He goes to the dr on thursday and he said Brian has a bacterial infection (We thought from White Castle). But after taking the 3 medications Brian was feeling much better by Sunday. Sunday night, i start feeling sick, I had a fever and chills. I go into work monday to be sent home and sleep all day. Today Brian wakes up to go to work and while trying to find a parking spot gets shooting pains in his stomach, worse than last week. He calls the dr and he took Mylanta which helped a little. SO since i'm still sick, I also go to the Dr. with Brian. I have gastroentrinitis but when the dr was pressing down on my tummy it hurt, so I have to go for a sonogram tomorrow of my stomach and Brian has to go for a catscan of his stomach because he may have appendicitis. Now I'm not worried about myself. I'm worried about Brian. He has no health insurance and what if he does have it and needs surgery right away. Of course, he'd get it, but it will take everything we have in savings. Does anyone know where he can get fast free insurance, so it may make it easier on us. Sorry this was really long


*** UPDATE ***

Me: Went for the sonogram of my tummy and have to wait another 2 days to find out anything.

Brian: Had the catscan done. Later on he started getting sharper pains. Called his dr. and we went to the hospital. The hospital couldnt get in touch with the place we went to for the first catscan so the hospital had to do another one. Then they forget to put the IV in.. so brian needed a third catscan. So after 8 hrs of being at the hospital last night, Brian does not have appendicitis. Its good news, but Brian is stressing because we still have no idea whats wrong with him and he knows his job is pis sed at him. We have all documentation from his dr.'s stating why he's been out of work, so they can't fire him right?

Last week we both had white castle. Of course, i havent had fast food since February, and i needed this reminder as to why i dont eat it But the Dr. said what we both have is not related, so its not really what we hate. Even though thats what we thought at first (at least on my end).

Because appendicitis is a life threatening condition he should go to the closest er to have the CT scan done....they can get him temporary medicaid or an insane reduced fee,,,,,,

most places wont fight for the medicaid or reduced fees..but a hospital will...if you need any help FM I will give you what ever info I have around the office

I didnt know hospitals do that. Thanks for the info. Both of our appointments are tomorrow at 5 so hopefully everthing is okay until then. I told FH if the pain starts getting as bad as it was this morning he's going to the hospital

Sorry megan, I don't have any answers to the insurance question unless you marry him and he uses your insurance but even that would probably take too long if needs an appendectomy (sp?). I hope you and FH feel better

hope you both feel better and i hope FH gets some insurance so you dont have to dip into your savings for this!

Check with your company RIGHT NOW and see if they allow insurance for Domestic Partners. Mine does - and I think this is becoming more and more normal..

If you do have to go to the ER - they will not turn you away for not having insurance and you can always work out a payment plan.

A good idea of someone to talk to, get advice from is your local pharmacist. Talk to them - go to a CVS or Rite Aid and ask their opinion - they sometimes know better than a nurse in a doctor's office - if something is going around...after all - they fill all the medications!!! They can also give you good recommendations for things to take for different things!!!

hey i had the same thing in Jan and they couldnt figure it out, crippling pains, diarrhea (i know TMI) couldnt keep anything down, high fever, chills, it was insane. They thought maybe it was in infection in my gallbladder. I had a sonogram and it turned up nothing wrong ...

it was just a really bad stomach virus - it lasted about 5 days in total ...

drink LOTS of gatorade and have chicken soup hope you guys feel better SOON!
