FH and I got new puppy

FH and I decided to get a Choc. Lab puppy on Sunday. Neither of us have slept since then. Any suggestions on how to get the puppy to sleep more before FH and I lose our minds?

i have a chocolate lab mix, we got her when she was 8 weeks old..you need to tire her/him out as much as possible during the day..they are very very very hyper dogs.......be as active with it as possible

I agree we got two of them together, are you putting the puppy in a crate at night? This can sometimes work wonders because puppy figures it out that when they are put in the crate, its time to sleep. I didn't sleep for possibly the first 2 weeks so after that, the puppy should get into a routine, just have a hard time adjusting. Congratulations!

We try. We both work during the day but I go home everyday for lunch and play for with her for an hour and then she out all night with us until it is bedtime. She will eventually calm down right. Please give me hope

I have a black lab they are detfly hyper dogs when they are little i would play with her during the day or talk her for a walk. She would fall fast asleep at night

We have her in her kennel at night. Thanks for the congrats! She is so cute that It is so hard to be angry. Just need some sleep

My brother's 'son' Oreo is a black lab and boy was he hyper as a puppy. Definitely the ladies know what they're talking about...I know it's hard to do with no sleep and all, but you need to tire her out - run around, make her fetch, and Oreo liked a blanket in his crate.

Even if you just surround her with toys.....tire her out!!! Thats all I can say, it does get better I promise, brownie just turned two, and she still has her hyper moments don't get me wrong, but nothing like when she was a puppy..they say that after 2.5 years they calm down substantially..I'm still waiting for the substantial part..

She prefers our hands to toys. FH went out and bought her all new puppy toys, she chews on them for a second and then runs back for our feet or hands. Gotta love her though. I should try to post pic's of the new baby girl

We got a pomeranian puppy about 4 almost 5 months ago. She was NUTS! So we learned to just play play play with ehr. Then, every night at 9 o'clock she would pass out and be out until the morning. She hasn't broken that routine yet!

Thanks so much!! She still has issues that need work, her training isn't at is best yet. We trained her to do wee wee pads first...BIGGEST MISTAKE EVER! Now she won't go outside, I uess she feels like she may get scolded or something. I have tried everything. Even have brought a dirty wee wee pad outside with me so she could get the scent. So far she has only peed once outside. But we are working on it!

Don't worry, your lab will come around. Its only a matter of time. And don't forget she is only a puppy in new suroundings. She's getting used to the place and trying to push her limits!

Labs are my favorite type of dogs.

I got a black lab that will be 1 on sunday. She is such a mush!! Watch out they love to chew. Every toy she eventaully tears through. For christmas she got like 10 toys and had them all destroyed before the weekend was over.

I have a bad suggestion... but trust me, it works.

If you take the puppy into bed with you, he will most likely sleep through the night BUT you will also be stuck with a dog in the bed forever.

My cousin has a Jack Russell...talk about hyper...she was at her wits end for a few weeks, then everything calmed down some. I recommend some chews like Flossies...hours of keeping the puppy busy.

That's what we were told. Lab's chew on everything. Just have to utilize my patience with her. And invest in some good gloves for when she goes for our hands.
