I called him and told him that I now want video. Originally I didnt because i had images of a 1980's wedding video. I figured I would never watch it so why bother. I watched a few videos today from a few different companies and I love they way they make it look like a movie. We also have children and I think it would be nice to capture certain moments in motion. Thats something still picture cant capture.
So I call him and he tells me I am spending to much money and i need to stop. So I got pissed and hung up on him. Then he calls me back and said we should save for a house, which i understand. My parents are helping us pay for the wedding so its not like we are footing the entire bill and i want everything to be nice. Why cant he understand that and just give me what the hell i want.......

has he seen the videos?? maybe sit down w/ him and show him what you see and maybe he will have a different POV. It's hard to verbalize what one of the videos could look like - so maybe seeing one will help him change his mind

I also get the video..especially bc you have kids.
How about this? go REALLY shop around and get the most basic one? Like don't get all the special effects and stuff. just a nice edited vid.
You could do it my way...bring it up after sex! lol. he'll say yes then!

I'd wait closer to the wedding and see how much $ you guys really spent. Right now I'm getting video through my DJ but I can change my mind if I want any time and book through a professional place. But i'm waiting until I get into early summer to see how much $ we spent. We might be able to get deals too since it's so close.

if you haven't booked a photographer yet... the video part is still an option. a lot of photographers offer a photo/video pkg, and i'm sure they will be willing to work with the price... so if you approach it that way, maybe he wont be as bothered?

My FH and I had a big argument last week about that too... I became to understand many things from that argument... I know I want SO many things for the wedding... but i also need to look ahead... our house... that is why i agree with him, we will ONLY get what our budget allow us... I know we all want a BIG wedding... but we prefer putting $20,000, $30,000, $40,000 or more for a house instead of the wedding ....
I am sorry honey... maybe look for other videos comp cheaper... or try to look at ur future... Ur house with ur Family... a bigger house...

Did you book photography yet? If not, definitely check out Duet - I think they have a package that is like $3000 for basic photo/video. Not sure if that's in your price range, but definitely worth asking. And if you're having a DJ, ask them!

Exactly what she said. Maybe you can wait and add the video on after everything else has been squared away & paid for. You don't want to add another expense right now and creat further headache/arguments.
I totally get why you would want the video for the kids to look back on. But maybe just wait on it; see how much $$ is left; and then like another posted said-get a basic video package.

Update:
We met with Fade to Black sunday night and when we got in the car he told me 'we have to book that guy'.
I was so happy. I had promised him that once we met with him if you still was against video i wouldnt bring it up again and we didnt have to get it. Gil really wowed him. His videos were exactly the style we like ( photojournalistic) and he gave us a better price than he had originally gave me over the phone. 2 cameras and bridal prep was really important to me but i was will to do without just to cut the cost but Gil worked it out where we got both and at a price that was amazing. I'll be booking him today.

Thanks ladies....Video was important becasue we have children. I thought it would be nice for them to have something to hold on to. They would be able to see thier parents dancing and saying our vows. I'm glad he came around

I decided to book with someone already but thanks. I spoke to about a dozen people and this guy really had the best prices and the best work. I am paying a little more than 1500 but not much

I didnt want to spend more than 2000. I have having a problem finding someone who could give me what i wanted and the type of video i wanted with all the extras for that price. This guy came in under that and gave us more than i originally wanted
