FH and I just had a huge blowout

Original post by Becca2010

It was bad. I've been mad at him in the past, but this was just awful.

His very close friend's grandmother passed away and the family was sitting shiva from Tuesday through Thursday. He called FH, told him about it and asked that he come on Wednesday. FH didn't go AT ALL. I only found out about it Wed and tried to go last night, but I left work late and the house was in Syosset. I called FH's friend and left a voicemail apologizing.

Today, FH's friend calls me back and he's REALLY upset with FH.

I approach FH and tell him he has to cow down, call his friend and apologize. He starts making excuses for why he couldn't go: he didn't have the hours for the shiva, he didn't know the exact address, he couldn't leave work early enough to make it, etc.

This is his good friend. He should have at least TRIED.
I SCREAMED at him after he started yelling about his excuses.
Now we hate each other. he doesn't want to come to TWOTY. I am so angry at him.

ita too. this will pass. i'd call FH and discuss how you two can resolve this. no sense in letting it spill over and ruin your weekend when im sure it will get worked out eventually.

yeah i don't think you are really 'mad' becca... you're disappointed in him.

but give him some time. he will see what a mistake he made. its good you called to sort of apologize on his behalf but he will see that HE will have to apologize for himself soon enough.

who knows why he didn't want to go but you can't force someone to make the right decision you know?

i hope you guys make up before tomorrow though.

You and me both.

he started yelling about how he needs to make changes in his life and he has to stop taking shiit from people. whatever that means. Deep down, he's a great person, but he makes dumb decisions a lot. I blame his parents, they're good people, but very business minded. Long story, too much for here.

Thank you everyone for your kind words. We are sitting in silence right now, but it's better than screaming.

Some people just handle death differently though. I mean if it was me I would be there, but maybe he didn't know what to say, felt akward, I don't know.
