Re: FH back from Iraq...

Wow! What a remarkable man! You must be so thrilled to have him home!

I agree with the other girls...I think donation/grooms cake are your best way to go. I think song might be a little emotional for him, especially if he doesn't love to be the center of attention.

Re: FH back from Iraq...

thank you girls for all your kind words, my FH was very touched!
thanks for all the ideas, I am keeping it to a groom's cake and the donation...I nixed the song, you girls are right, maybe too emotional for him and he'd hate it if I made him cry in front of everyone! heehee

Re: FH back from Iraq...

God bless the both of you.

I think all three ideas are very nice, but I like #1 the best.

Re: FH back from Iraq...

I like the donation in lieu of a favor. I think its a great idea in general but especially here where it would honor your FH. You could also light a candle together at the church/ceremony in honor of his commrades?

Re: FH back from Iraq...

Wow...congrats on his homecoming. Give him a big hug and thank you from all of us. My FH was enlisted in the Navy and now does reserves. My bro is in the Navy too. I think its a wonderful thing and they should know how much we appreciate them for it.

That being said, why not have a homecoming house party for him and honor him now or before the wedding? I would keep the mood festive and light for your wedding. Definitely honor him...perhaps a photo montage, one pic of him in uniform, the favor idea is great and the groom's cake. I wouldn't emphasize it too much on that day. He may want to concentrate on YOU and on that day he's been thinking of for the last 18 months!

Good Luck!

Re: FH back from Iraq...

Just wanted to say thank you to your FH. and to you. Just as he is your hero I know that you are his hero. I'm in tears as I'm writing this, as I know the stress and pain and fears of a deployment but also the amazingness of a homecoming.

I love love love the donation idea....and also the prayer during the service.

To all those military brides....congratulations!!!
Ok to all brides....congratulations!
