FH Birth Certificate

FH Birth Certificate

We are having so many problems getting FH birth certificate. I orginally ordered it online for him and months later he never got it. So about 1 month ago he sent away for it through the mail, and still havent gotten it. He knows that he was born in Brooklyn but adopted through Rockville Center. I dont know if we are having this problem because where he was adopted was not in the same town he was born. His mother has no idea where his original BC is (She doesnt know much of anything lately)

This has been going on for about 4 months. I think he is going to have to take the day and go to the city and get it.

We need to get our passports and he will need it for the marriage lic.

Did anyone else have problems getting their Birth Certificates?

Did you use VitalChek.com? That is how I reordered mine and I didn't have a problem, and when I asked them a question about where mine was (DH hadn't told me we'd received it) they provided me with tracking info.

If you paid for this you should have gotten confirmation info - if you send it to them and tell them you never got anything they should be able to track it and see what happened.

i know a friend of mine had the same problem, but she went directly to the town records, in the town where she was born, and she had to wait for it but got it that day. maybe try visiting the town hall.

yes i did it through vital check but since he was born in the NYC limits they said that I have to call the NYC to find out where it is. And we can not get through to them.

Go directly through vital records. You should be able to do everything online. His being adopted or not shouldn't make a difference. The certificate # doesn't change, just the parents names. If you are having problems getting it online then i'd take a trip down to 125 Worth St (NYC). If they give you a problem tell them you are looking for an amended birth certificate.

Vital records has all b.c. for any children who were born in the 5 boroughs.. it doesn't matter where he was adopted.

FH needed to get his so he went to hempstead town hall where he was born and was able to get it no problem. You'll probably need to go get it in person as well...

He doesnt know what hospital he was born in. His mother doesnt remember. and the copy that he has doesnt have the hospital only that he was born in Brooklyn

Btw.... if you are talking about his original original b.c. (prior to adoption) it's basically pointless and can be shredded and thrown out if she ever does find it.

Look at the # on the birth certificate. That's the only thing that stays the same. You can request it through that.

He has this old copy of this strange looking BC showing his name, date of birth and where he was born. And thats it. Doesnt have his parents name on it at ll. It does have a cert # on it- so maybe if he brings that he might be able to get it.

I ordered my parents off of vitalcheck so they could start prepping for retirement.

I had no problem getting my fathers, but we went back and forth for a few weeks trying to get my mothers.

She ended up having to go to town hall to get it. (after paying almost $60 just for HERS, that money went bye bye(

let me know what happens. The people at vital records are a pain in the butt and you gotta go at an off hour, like 10am or 1pm. Otherwise you'll wait in line forever!
