How necessary is it to register for your wedding? FH doesn't want to register because he would rather get $$$ then gifts. (Don't worry, we've already had the 'it's not supposed to be about the money' fight!) I think it's good to register to give people options. But he feels we'll get jipped (

Re: FH doesn't want to register...
Registering is mostly for the bridal shower-so if you don't you may have a very boring shower. If you don't plan on having one-then I would only register for a few things-maybe your china or expensive appliances.

Re: FH doesn't want to register...
I didn't want to register because I preferred to get money too. However, since there's still two years before we get married and we have absolutely nothing for a place of our own, we decided to start a registry now and refer our family to it for Christmas and our birthdays. This way, we could start slowly building up all the things that we're gonna need when we move out and hopefully by the time of the wedding, we would have received most of the things on our registry and hopfully they would give money at that point instead of a gift. Either way, we get plenty of time to start seeing what things people would buy for us and what things we have to start picking up on our own.

yes registering is usually for the shower...most people give money for the wedding no matter what. does your family throw bridal showers?
tell him he gets to pick things out that he wants that he will not have to buy! you get all the presents for the home at the shower...n then money at the wedding! if he doesnt want to...register on your own!! dont miss out! HAHA

Re: FH doesn't want to register...
you should definitely register for the shower
if he doesnt want to come - dont feel bad i am doing it alone too and i think it will be a lot more fun without him there ha ha that sounds bad. . .
anyway - if you dont register for teh shower you are going to get sooo much stuff you dont like - because people almost never give money for showers - sometimes gift cards, but i know my family always gets gifts. . . .
and then for the wedding everyone will give you $$$ anyway - except for some out of state people who do things differently!

Re: FH doesn't want to register...
You should definitley register for your shower. We had our e party in April and didn't register but were going to register in Oct for the shower next year. I say defintley do it. Don't worry, most people give money anyway, if you were getting a gift at your wedding the person giving it would prob give you a gift anyway so wouldn't u rather it something you need or want instead of something random anyway?

Re: FH doesn't want to register...
Registering is for shower mostly and if you don't register they will get you what ever they want and it really makes it hard on people to decide on what to get. I had that problem 2 months ago and I really got upset trying to find a gift.

fh didnt want to either. he felt it was boring. but we did and he enjoyed it while we were. for showers people mostly give gifts. i think you should explain to him that you guys should get what you want instead of 20 toasters! Just my opinion

Re: FH doesn't want to register...
Yea people are going to buy presents if you register or not for the shower and even the wedding. I have family members who just give presents and not money so you need to just do a few items on the registry.

Re: FH doesn't want to register...
I would register....for the bridal shower. if you want find out if you can take the registry down after that. that way it won't be up anymore for the wedding

People are going to buy you things anyway even if you dont register. Especially for your bridal shower
