FH doesn't want to wear ring

Original post by SFAR89

Anyone else have this problem? I mean I know he doesn't wear jewelry and he doesn't like it, but its your freaking wedding band?? Does anyone else feel the same way I feel. Shouldn't he be happy to wear it regardless?

It's not that big of a deal to me, I am just going to get him the cheapest ring I can get him b/c I don't want to spend money on something that will never see the light of day again. It just sort of makes me a little sad in the heart that my own husband won't have a wedding band on.

He is into tattoos so he liked the idea of getting it tattooed on him instead of something he can take on and off lol I don't get him.

My dad doesn't wear a ring and has been happily married for nearly 44 years. I would ask him to wear it but if he really is against it I would let it go.

Same with my dad!
FH doesnt plan on wearing his wedding band and I'm ok with it. I joke with him and say I'm just gonna use a twist tie at the ceremony! but seriously, I'm getting him the cheapest ring I can find. Probably silver.

My fh is in construction and we have talked about this- he wont wear it to work but will wear it when we go out and when he is around the house ( if he remember to put it on)

but if he is into tattoo- maybe that is a way to go for him

FH doesnt wear any jewwlry either except for the chain I got him and a watch. He told me also that he didn't want to wear the ring but I made a big stink about it so he is going to wear it. Im just getting him a simple ring since he isn't excited about wearing one anyway.

My FH may not be wearing his to work. He works as an Narcotics Detective and his take on it he's around scumbags all the time who don't need to know he has a wife at home they can threaten, etc.
It kind of bothers me but I have heard stories of the dirtbags they deal with looking at guys rings and threatening to kill their wives, etc. It's all talk but I can see where he's coming from.

I know he'll wear it the rest of the time, and I hope once he gets off the street so much he may wear it at work too.

I know it sounds somewhat jealous and overprotective but I think a part of all of us wants it there bc we know girls always check that finger and no ring is def a sign he's available and none of us want to think about another girl hitting on our men.

Neither of my parents have ever worn their rings, and they have been married for over 35 years. Some people just aren't ring people.

If you trust your fiance enough to make him your husband, then you should be able to trust him enough to go to a bar without a ring on and leave that bar alone.

FH initially said it would interfere with his job as a pediatrician because he wears gloves sometimes (he's not a surgeon, so rarely does he need to be sterile). I'm a scientist, so I wear gloves more than he does and manage to wear an e-ring with it, so that argument was really out.

Anyway, it took a few months of wedding anticipation and I think he's now getting excited about the prospect of wearing a ring. We just picked out bands and FH loves his.

However, some men just aren't comfortable with it. I don't believe it's a sign of disrespect or a roving eye at all.

I think its sort of an adjustment for guys b/c most haven't worn jewerly in the past.
FH hates jewerly, but he found a ring he actually likes. Its not traditional, its black titatium.

Go shopping and who knows maybe something will hit him that he likes.

Before we got married, my DH was the same way. He was so concerned that the ring would feel weird and uncomfortable and he really wasn't thrilled about the prospect of wearing it every day. Now he says if he doesn't wear it he feels weird, lol - like something is missing. It took him all of about 2 days to get used to it. He got a titanium ring, so it is very light, you might want to try something like that for your FH.

When we got engaged, he said he would have to get used to the idea of wearing a band, so I bought him a promise ring to wear during our engagement, so come time for his wedding band he will have no problem..haha, he never takes it off...

Wearing it or not wearing one has as much significance as one puts into it. I don't necessarily think that not wearing one--in absence of other red flags in the relationship--necessarily means anything. Neither DH or nor I wear our rings on a regular basis, although I'll wear it on special occasions. DH has had constant problems with his fitting despite several times going back to the jeweler. I've had similar problems, although not to that extent. So, it's easier for us just not to wear it.
