Poor guy We were in the ER for almost 4 hours last night. They said it can take hours or days for it to pass

I hope he passes them and they don't have to go UP and get them. They had to for my father, he still has nightmares about it

Re: FH has a kidney stone!
My DH had quite a few stones in Dec. They did a procedure on him that breaks them up to help you pass them. After the first procedure he ended up in the ER as well. Wasn't till they gave him Morphine twice did he finally have some relief. He had the procedure done again to the other kidney in Jan. with no problem. Has he seen a urologist yet? Tell him to drink lots of water. Hope he feels better soon!

The ER doc told him to make an appointment with a urologist within 2 - 3 days but he's being a big baby because he's afraid of the 'UP' part another girl just mentioned. I of course am very sympathetic but I'm like welcome to what a woman feels like every 6 months going to the OBGYN!

Re: FH has a kidney stone!
Poor guy!! They say it is the closest experience to childbirth a guy can have. I hope he feels better soon.
And some for you I know how stressful being caretaker can be.

Re: FH has a kidney stone!
The procedure my DH had is called lithotripsy. Its a procedure done under general anaesthesia. He went in at 11:00 and was home by 2:30. The procedure is noninvasive and breaks the stones up into fragments to make it easier to pass them.

Oh, I hope he feels better soon. I'm actually at my dad's right now cause he just had the lithostripy(sp.) today. He's been in horrible pain since the 28th and they finally were able to schedule it today. But he still seems to hurt so much. I'm a little worried.
Hope your FH is able to pass it quickly!!
kelswiss - was your dh still in pain after?

Re: FH has a kidney stone!
My DH had the procedure twice. Once on each kidney. The first time he had several stones in the kidney and one was very large. After that procedure he was in alot of pain and ended up in the ER. After the second procedure on his other kidney he had no pain. It was like he had nothing done. Hope he feels better soon.

Re: FH has a kidney stone!
My brother had them when he was in high school. He sounds like it is horrible pain! It took him days to pass them, and he had to pee through a strainer so they would know when he passed it. Good luck! The ER is not a fun place to be...
