FH HAS A RESIDENT ALIEN CARD FROM CYPRUS (GREEK) WE MAY NOT BE ABLE TO GO ON OUR HONEYMOON OUT OF THE STATES... WE DONT HAVE ENOUGH TIME TO APPLY FOR HIS CITEZENSHIP IT TAKES 6-9 MONTHS HE HAS BEEN HERE SINCE HE WAS 2 HE WILL BE 39 ON SUNDAY... ANYONE KNOW WHAT TO DO OR WHO TO CALL TO FIND OUR WHAT HE NEEDS TO DO HELP!!!!

Where are you going for your HM? Have you talked to your TA - my sisters husband was only a resident to at the time of their wedding. and they still were able to go to Anguilla.

I'm not sure, but I think you have to call the department of state.
He can still travel but I believe certain countries require visas since he is not a US citizen...also, he will need a passport from his country of citizenship...why didnt he apply for citizenship years ago? Its a pain to continuously renew the Green card...something is not right...

I'm a permanent resident alien ( i was born in the philippines) and i can travel anywhere in the world. why would his status be a problem? does he have a passport from greece? if not, he should call the greek consulate and apply for one or just ask them what he needs to do.

If you're planning to travel out of US then yes its going to be a problem because he will need a passport...you dont need one when traveling within the US.
ETA: And get him going in applying for citizenship...what is he waiting for????

he should call/go to the greek consulate in NYC and see if there are any travel restrictions to the place you wanted to go; he can apply for a visa through them too, which only takes a few weeks

No no sweetie, he needs to get a passport from Cyprus...call up the Cyprus or Greek embassy here in NYC and ask them what the process is...they'll answer your questions...the fact that he is a Resident Alien has nothing to do with it...

Is he in 'in between' status for some application he made with the USCIS?
Otherwise, why not?
He can travel overseas but he would have to follow the visa requirements for his country of birth.

It doenst matter...he needs a passport from a country where he is a citizen in order to travel...if you're a not american citizen you cannot obtain a passport...
ETA: He is not an american citizen right? So he must be a Greek citizen...therefore he needs a passport from his country...do yourself a favor and call their embassy here in NYC

Even with a green card, he is required to have his greek passport valid at all time. Why Greek? He is a Greek citizen not a US citizen... only a resident.
So, yes, he cannot travel overseas without one. And he could only ask the Greek Embassy/consulate to issue it. Not the US.
