FH is commissioning into the Army. Need suggestions

FH is commissioning into the Army in May. I know its 3 months away, but his parents already bought him a gift. Any suggestions on something I could get him as a gift??? I dont want to spend very much, but I'd like it to be military related.

I like the idea of something he can keep with him, like a dog tag that has your name and a sweet saying or something. And then you could get one for yourself with his name and then you could be connected while he's away.

I definately like the idea of giving him something he can keep with him, but unfortunately he already has his regualr dog tags and a St. Michaels pendant and cross that I gave him thats engraved with my name

When I used to work at Things Remembered they had there military blankets. I bought 4 or 5 of them for military family members for the holidays.

I found the link

Army Blanket

They have them in Army, Navy, and Air Force

For my FH, I've given him a military blanket, a St. Christopher's medal (patron saint of travelers for when he went to Iraq), those military history books at B&N (they have one for each branch), dog tags engraved specifically for him...

My sis wanted nothing except for photos of the family. She's in Iraq now and her FH sent her a calendar where each month has different pics of the family and them as a couple. No one in the family got her anything except phone cards! Since she was in S. Korea for a year, that was definitely appreciated. She didn't really want anything else.

The calendar was such a good idea--I wish I had thought of that when FH deployed to Iraq.

I actually ended up taking pictures with a professional and gave it to him before he left in a folio.

And the phone cards make great presents for anyone overseas in the military!

My fiance got promoted to 1st lieutenant recently and I got him a watch with the airforce symbol on it and on the back they engraved his name, rank and date of promotion. I think I got it from personalization mall but I am not totally sure, try an online search if you are interested!
