FH is driving me crazy!!!!

Just venting a little....

My date is 5/27/07, granted 20 months away but it is a popular weekend. I want to book my photogrpher by early Oct and our DJ by November.

FH thinks I'm rediculous. We have 20 months and he doesn't want vendors to have deposits this far in advanced. He is worried that they may go out of business.

Now I did my research, checked how long they have been in business and complaints with the BBB. But this isn't good ehough.

Am I being rediculous for wanting to book these thing so far out in advanced? Anyone else running into these issues?

I booked vendors already, we have DJ and photo/video and the ahll. I thought of it as being able to get every vendor that you want, not having to worry about them being booked and this way I have more time to pay them! HTH

Not at all! I think the sooner the better. I have a lot of my major vendors booked. Remember the prices go up as time goes on.
tell him to keep that in mind.

I had the same problem-stress to him that
prices go up as the year goes on-most places will still give you a 2005 price if you book now even for a 2006 event -
Stress that quality vendors get booked quicker
and tell him the more you have done the less running around you will have to do asthe big day gets closer.

I agree with the rest- Fi's family thought we were ridiculous for booking the photographer this early but lets do the math- there are 4 weeks in a month and 2 months in the summer (appx) totals to 8 weeks per year ( now we all know how many teachers there are and they all book summer months for obvious reasons- including both Fi and I who are going to be teachers) so that doesnt leave enough time I dont think to wait- especially if you know you like this particular vendor and he might book fast! They were all surprised I thought this out
besides you get cheaper prices and NY weddings these days are insane!!!

There is also wedding insurance in case your vendors go out of business they will refund your deposit. I found the site on weddingchannel.com

Thank you so much for validating my reasons. My new approach is to try to get a photographer to fax me a template of the contract so FH can look over and hopefully feel safer about booking now.

Thats a good suggestion about the insurance as well.

We booked things 18 months in advance. I think you should do as much as you can and not wait until the last minute if you know what you want.
