You know what though? Don't discourage him. Let him do this for you. You deserve it. The money will come if you need it for that [random wedding thing] and if not, you didn't need it anyway. Take advantage of this! Who knows if it will happen again!

I understand your frustration. Im so on edge about anything we spend right now as well. BUT wait and give him the benefit of the doubt. YOu have no idea whats in store. For all we know, he could have been putting money aside for this for a while or it could be something meaningful but inexpensive. Just wait and see AND ENJOY BEING SURPRISED since you said its rare.

Its definitely a trip .... but the time he's asking me to take off is Memorial weekend....who in their right mind travels for fun that weekend!?!

I can understand where your coming from -- but how often do you graduate? celebrate!! you worked hard for your degree. and you said he doesn't often do things like this -- so even the more reason to let him do what he has planned and enjoy it. remember you deserve it

i think you should allow it, the wedding is not the end all be all of everything your graduation warrants celebration as well, even if it ciphers $$ away from wedding stuff, so be it, everyone has different opinions though thats just mine. just saying that your graduation deserves some is all!

He just revealed his 'big surprise in the works', and it's more of a fun trip for HIM than it would be for me.
I'm kinda glad I couldn't get the time off.
I knew it was too good to be true.
