The money might come later, in a separate envelope. Some people might even wait until after your wedding.

We had 'No's' send us something either right before or right after the Wedding- don't fret.

It happens! Don't let it upset your FH.

shouldn't that come later...the no is just a response...i always sent a gift at the time of the wedding with a card.

Not everyone is going to sed a gift. Some people DO include checks with the response card, but it's actually sort of an etiquette fauz pas. Mosre appropriate would be to send a card at the time of the wedding. Don't worry.
Was it someone close to you?

I never knew that it was required to send a gift or money to a couple for their wedding, if they are not planning to attend. I just think its a little wrong to even expect gifts, just my opinion, not trying to insult anyone here. I mean, a couple throws a big celebration so that way their families and friends can celebrate the marriage, bringing gifts shouldnt be a requirement to attend.

Of all of our nos we got maybe two gifts. I personally believe that as long as you're invited to something you should send a gift. Saying no should not excuse you from giving a little something.

I feel the same way. We didn't attend a wedding 2 summers ago and we didn't send them anything either.

Honestly, I dont have any $$ to be sending to everyone whos getting married... Maybe a card but thats about it... In my family a 'good luck' is enough...If Im not going.. i do not think Its 'etiquette' in my family to send $$. To each their own.. Just dont expect it and then when you get it you will be pleasanlty surprised.

honestly, I had A LOT of declines. I thought it was strange when I'd open them up and find a check (4 in total did it that way). I had never heard of sending a gift that way.
But, A LOT of wedding cards with gifts enclosed arrived the week of the wedding, all the way until August. And, I have a few OLD SCHOOL family members who I think are going to wait till the 1 year mark...

I've never replied as a NO but I dont think I would think I had to send a gift if I did.

I think even if people are attending the wedding, I wouldn't necessarily be expecting a gift. Not everyone we would like to invite can afford a gift , but it doesnt make us not want them to join in on the celebration. Both of us are going into this without any expectations.

No, I have never heard of sending a check with a response card. I always send a gift close to the wedding....usually off their registry so it's sent to them.

Hmmmm, I don't even know what to think. It was weird to him because he has been to a lot of weddings, he has been in a lot of weddings, and he has said no to a lot of weddings and according to him, no matter if someone is attending or not, they have always sent a gift. This person is a really close friend of his mom, so he was surprised. He doesn't care that much, just surprised. If it were some random person, then it wouldn't have made a difference to him.
