I am so sad. . .I guess you can call me a baby. . .my FH just finished the NCPD acad. and he began working. Of course he got the night shift 7pm to 7am. If this was last year it wouldn't be so bad b/c I lived in an apt. in Babylon near all of my family and friends. I would spend a lot of time w/ my nieces and nephews and do other things. Last summer I moved into the house he bought on his own before we began dating. It's only 25 min. east of where my family is but I am by myself. I don't know anybody around here. The worst part is. . .when he gets out of work, I am already on my way to work and then I have appts. tomorrow evening and Thurs. evening so now I won't see him until Fri. after work. I know I am being a baby but, I am not use to not having him around all the time.

he is out on field training, right? When he permanently gets assigned to a precinct, he may or may not have to work nights, depends where he goes. Plus NCPD you only work 12 days a month! you will have lots of time together! just give it time it will work out

Re: FH is working nights
Wow I guess you went through it already? Yeah it FT. He def. has a lot of time off. He works 3 days on 4 days off and 2 days on 3 days off. I have a feeling he'll pick the night shift when he is finished with FT.

Re: FH is working nights
you're not being a baby at all! that would make me sad too. i remember for awhile DH was working a shift from about 8:30pm until 4:30 am.--and it was such a strain on him. i barely got to see him (cause of traffic he'd have to leave for queens when i was just about leaving work)
hopefully this shift won't last too long for him!

Re: FH is working nights
sorry to crash - but that stinks! i know how you feel, though - FH was in training for 3 1/2 months in georgia (right after we got engaged!) and now he will be working nights from 1-9 or 2-10, plus mandatory overtime, so he won't get home until 12 or 1am - i am in bed well before then! just think, this is only temporary, and so worth it! he's got a great job, and a great career ahead of him!

I am glad I am not the only one. I am just bored but I guess I'll get use to it. I hate living in the middle of no where.

Re: FH is working nights
I know it's really hard and I was also having a hard time dealing with it. It makes it hard because it's just me and the chihuahua to keep each other company. If you don't mind me asking, where are you located?

I live in Farmingville. I want a puppy but my FH thinks I don't have the patience and I am not home enough.

aww I personally haven't been through this, but I work at a police station and I feel so bad for the poor new guys out of the academy who go to the midnight shift.. our one srgt. just got married and they sent him to midnights, I don't know how you ladies do it! But I hope he goes to his regular tour ASAP!!

Re: FH is working nights
I know how you feel I work 8-4 & FH works 4-12 at 1st I really hated it & sometimes I still do but after a while I found that I enjoy the time we spend together so much more because we don't have so much of it...We are going to be moving to Farmingville hopefully by September (we're in Middle Island right now) thats where I grew up, where do you live by?

Re: FH is working nights
Aww- I know how you feel. FH leaves the house @ 6:30 (when I'm asleep) and comes home between 12 and 2am (I'm asleep). He does this 6 days a week so I only see him like 2 times a week- it's tough...darn wedding bills!
