If it makes you feel better you're not alone... my FH is in another state and an 8 hour drive away from me! I haven't seen him since May 7th, and I won't see him until June 23rd when we go to Vegas! He lives in Pittsburgh, and I'm home on LI for the summer to work on wedding stuff! I miss him so much!

Don't worry, FH is FDNY and is gone for 24-30 hours at a time. It stinks when we are on opposite schedules but you get 'used' to it and learn how do deal with it... hang in there!!

My FH is in the NYPD...I TOTALLY know how you feel. I work 8:30 - 5 and he works 4-12's and to top it off we live an hour away from each other!

My Fh is a suffolk cop and works nights...trust me at first I hated it but now I LOVE IT... I get 4 nights a tour to myself and its the best..plus we can take mini vacations because he works 4 on 4 off!

I am so sad. . .I guess you can call me a baby. . .my FH just finished the NCPD acad. and he began working. Of course he got the night shift 7pm to 7am. If this was last year it wouldn't be so bad b/c I lived in an apt. in Babylon near all of my family and friends. I would spend a lot of time w/ my nieces and nephews and do other things. Last summer I moved into the house he bought on his own before we began dating. It's only 25 min. east of where my family is but I am by myself. I don't know anybody around here. The worst part is. . .when he gets out of work, I am already on my way to work and then I have appts. tomorrow evening and Thurs. evening so now I won't see him until Fri. after work. I know I am being a baby but, I am not use to not having him around all the time.
It will be okay...my FH and I had the same thing going on for years...it will work out. Maybe in the future his shift will change.

be greatfull that its NCPD and not NYPD... at least its worth the pay and that its rotating shift like 4 on 4 off or 3 on 4 off... My Fh is NYPD and he gets paid pennies and has set shifts wed-sun 6pm-2am and off Mon and tuesday. I have school 830am-315pm (he has to leave at 4pm to get to work on time) and i work monday and tuesday 330-9pm and Sunday 9-4 and then off wed-sat. so we NEVER see each other. if we get lucky his CO changes his shift to a 4-12 and then i get to see him an hour or 2... i would give anything to have him be in NCPD. But i totally understand how you feel i complained ALOT about him never being home but i have to just suck it up and say it wont be forever! and we have the rest of our lives to be together.
about not having any friends by you... try and make some.. ask FH when he goes out with the guys (which he will do ) have them bring their wives/ gf / FW along that way you can meet them and maybe make friends through them.
If you need anything FM me other girls on this board who went through it before me were VERY helpful to me (a new PO FW)

HAHAHA mine took it too!! he said it was one of the worst tests he's ever taken b/c 126 ?s were profiling and their not 'allowed' to do that ! so much for that !

awwww im sorry....i know how u feel...fh works like 7pm - 3 am all the time..and i get up at 5 for work
so we never see eachotehr really...but like when u do spend time u will see that its the best time..we hardly ever have an argument...things are nearly perfect....it makes u appreciate him more.

i totally understand how you feel - FH works until 11pm so i am usually sleeping during the week when he gets home
then on the weekends - he goes in at 6am so even though i go to his house at 11pm - he is usually asleep within an hour
it stinks. . . i complain all the time too - and i really shouldnt bc that is only for april through october really.
anyway- we are all here for you! besides coming on here i have been trying to read books that i have been meaning to get to - anything to pass the time!

i know its out of control this is the first time fh was old enough to sit for it (i know were babies) but his sgt. was telling him that one of the other sgts. got a 99 or something crazy high like that and had been a sgt for 12 years and never got a call.. thats just BS if you ask me! my fingers are crossed for FH and your FH~ lets hope this is the one for the both of them! is your FH taking the NCPD??their giving a test in aug

Yep, joe is taking the NCPD test...is your FH? Let's just think positive for ourselves and each other...it's crazy. They should automatically accept transfers from another department if they pass a differente version of the test...I am soooo fed up with the NYPD...

i agree the police officers already so have a differnt test. and should get a little special treatment! yes nicks taking the NC also. Good luck to yourFH! theres only about 8 or 9 thousand taking it so they have a better chance!

I know how you feel, mine is a Nass Co Corrections Officer and currently on midnight-8am tour. its tough
