FH is worried that the people from out of state will think CH is 'the meal'
Original post by melbalalala
We were picking out our menu last night and he started thinking that his family, and all his parents friends from Maryland will think CH is the only meal of the night because its so much food
He asked if we could put it in the program 6:00-7:00 Cocktails and Appetizers 7:00-11:00 Reception and sit-down dinner
Don't you think thats lame to put in a program?? Can you think of any other ways to get the word out?

The title of your post made me laugh out loud. I will never forget the first time I took my DH (who hails from the great state of PA) to a Long Island wedding. We were sitting in the CH at Giorgio's and they announced that it was time to move to the dining room. Poor DH was so confused and perplexed wondering where we were going and why they weren't going to let him eat longer. He had absolutely no idea that the CH was not in fact the 'main' meal.
He loved that the same thing happened with people at our wedding (all his relatives/friends) and how blown away they were with the abundance of food.
I don't think it's necessary to list it in the program - let them be pleasantly surprised and stuffed! They'll be talking about it for years!

I'm from VA and last year went to my first wedding up north (CT, not LI). There was a lot of food, but it wasn't listed in the program or anything as lasting an hour, so I kept asking FH when we got to sit down and eat dinner! I hadn't thought of this before...I'll have to spread the word to my southern friends and family!

I think you'll be ok! Even though OOT weddings don't typically have large cocktail hours, they do have a cocktail hour so they'll just be impressed by the amount of food! A lot of my OOT guests were amazed by how much there was to eat, and all of our hot food from cocktail hour was eaten (we had arranged for the leftovers to be served to the bagpipers who came after dinner and there wasn't anything left!)
