FH lost job, anyone know of any restaurant jobs...
A lil background info...
My FH is a student as the Art Institute of New York City. He is going for an AAS degree in Restaurant Mangagement and Culinary Arts. He worked at P.J. Clarkes in Midtown Manhattan for 5 months in the Prep Kitchen, however, there were restuarant cut backs, and the newest people got let go (Just our luck).
He applied to places in Times Square, such as Olive Garden, Planet Hollywood.. etc cuz we figured it would be easier to get a job there... however, that was over a week ago and not one phone call... He is worrying that his occupation will not be stable enough to be a good husband, and i'm trying to reassure him that we'll be fine.. But trying to pay for the wedding ourselves is going to kill us if he is out of work for long. We may even have to push the wedding back, something he adamantly does not want to do. So if you ladies know of any job openings, please please let me know.. THANKS!!!

i dont know any jobs but i just wanted to say, the restaurant world is gruesome but it brings home alot of money. i used to bring home 800-900 CASh a week from serving. tell him to stop being silly that he'll be a wonderful husband and that money doesnt bring you happiness, he does. xo

I know of some company that actually puts people in restuarant positions. I think it's EJ and associates or something like that. I personally don't know anything about them, but it's worth a try.

He actually knows how to cook. At his previous job, he worked in the Prep Kitchen. A lot of the times he was helping with the desserts. Where does your brother work??

I don't have any help on the job front, but I just wanted to say that he shouldn't worry that b/c he lost his job now, that would make him a bad husband. I noticed that your wedding is in about a year and a half and A LOT of things change (good and bad) in that time. And you can tell him it is about gaining strength through experiences like this that make a marriage stronger.

I'm with you on this one. It's not going to make him a bad husband in anyway shapee or form. This experience will hopefully bring the 2 of you even closer together and you'll get threw it. Has he tried any of the local catering halls or resteraunts. A frined works a Fridays and said they are always looking for people who know how to cook, and possibly a manager.

I'm sure things will get better. And i've told him that i'm not marrying him because of what he does and changing his career wouldnt make him happy because its not what he wants to do with his life. I'm marrying him for who he is, not what he does, and everyone goes through rough patches, i know this, and i know we'll get through it.. he was just really emotional about it... today he is better because he got a call for an interview on wednesday... Hopefully things will work out.. We hadnt thought about catering halls... thats a really good idea.. THANKS for the idea girls!!!

Don't be discouraged, I am told summer can be slow for restaurants in the city, and things ususally pick up again after the summer! More demand, more hiring...
Best wishes
