FH lost job, anyone know of any restaurant jobs...

A lil background info...

My FH is a student as the Art Institute of New York City. He is going for an AAS degree in Restaurant Mangagement and Culinary Arts. He worked at P.J. Clarkes in Midtown Manhattan for 5 months in the Prep Kitchen, however, there were restuarant cut backs, and the newest people got let go (Just our luck).

He applied to places in Times Square, such as Olive Garden, Planet Hollywood.. etc cuz we figured it would be easier to get a job there... however, that was over a week ago and not one phone call... He is worrying that his occupation will not be stable enough to be a good husband, and i'm trying to reassure him that we'll be fine.. But trying to pay for the wedding ourselves is going to kill us if he is out of work for long. We may even have to push the wedding back, something he adamantly does not want to do. So if you ladies know of any job openings, please please let me know.. THANKS!!!

What about PassionFish at the Woodlands? I dont know what they pay but my daughter works there and I think she said they just let someone go.

My sister is a manager at legal seafoods, thats on long island though. He could try applying to some local restaurant chains..

megan...i am so sorry to hear this...just be behind him and you are doing awesome by doing so much to help him :) i don't have any suggestions....all these girls have given more than I can....being in the restaurant world, all I can see is just keep going down to places, and keep asking...different managers, different moods, different days, it's weird, but true....one day they aren't looking the next they are..i dont get it!!! But I'm thinking about you guys and hoping he finds something soon :)

oooh Craigs list is a good idea!! Have to check that out... he has tried hotels but nothing postive as of yet. Thanks ladies for your input

I know!! I've tried telling him that... but he is still depressed!

Trust me - I understand - my DH, after working 25+ years nonstop in his life lost 2 jobs in the past year due to cut backs - its really difficult. Try not to fight with each other....

Has he looked in the Hamptons? I don't know if he could, but there are ALWAYS restaurant postions and a lot of them provide housing. The only downside is that a lot of them close for a month or two in the winter, but the money he would make over the summer would make up for it. Just a thought.... Hope it works out for him
