SO - FH doesn't have a middle name and this is messing with the wording of our invites. I want to write that my parents are hosting and also acknowledge his parents - but it looks weird:
Mr. and Mrs. Charles White request the honour of your presence at the marriage of their daughter Carla Maria to Michael Computer Son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Computer
It's weird because he doesn't have a middle name - should it just say
to Michael Sone of Mr. and Mrs. . . .
since they share the same last name? Or should I just add my last name and keep his last name for the sake of consistency. . .
help!

Re: FH really messing up our invites . . .
Carla, are Mike's parents contributing at all? Here's what mine say:
Mr. Donald S and Ms. Linda S together with Mr. & Mrs. Michael S request the honour of your presence at the marriage of their children
Laura and Michael
Saturday, the fifth of June two thousand and ten at three o'clock in the afternoon
Also, FH has a middle name, but I don't. I originally had his middle name on it, but everyone told me to take it out because they thought it looked weird.
ETA: My parents are hosting the actual wedding, but FIL's are contributing A LOT, by paying for the RD, HM, and a hospitality suite for guests in between the ceremony and CH.

Re: FH really messing up our invites . . .
Personally, I didn't like the way it looked when I had FH middle and last name, and since his parents were under him as 'son of', we took out his last name........
so since my parents are hosting, it is......
Mr & Mrs Anthony A request the honor of your presence at the marriage of their daughter
HAROULA
to
GIANNI BATTISTA
son of Mr & Mrs G L Sunday the askdjalskjdlajkdl
I thought it looked silly with him having 2 names (first and middle) and I only have one......i kind of got over it though.....

I have the same prob! Fh doesn't have a middle name. I really want my middle name there ( I was named after both my parents) But proper etiquette says that since I am taking FH's name my last name shouldn't be there. So mine looks like:
Blah blah blahc Mr and Mrs Sandro V______ Blah Blah Blah Sandra Dawn to Joseph Ci_____ son of Mr and Mrs Nick Ci____ Blah Blah Blah
Which to me looks weird, but all the wedding pro's says is right...

Re: FH really messing up our invites . . .
Thanks!
Laura, Mike's parents are helping us out with wedding-related things, but my parents are paying for the wedding - I think they definitely want that recognition.
Sandra, so you think what I have is proper etiquette? I should leave his first and last name, son of his parents, first and last names.
I can't find the etiquette on this anywhere! I definitely want my middle name too!!

Ok So here is her quote: 'It’s not necessary that your last name be on it because by proper etiquette the bride takes on the groom’s last name (now this may not be your case) and that’s why the bride’s last name is typically not on the invite… However nowadays a lot of brides choose not to take on the groom’s last name and that’s when Sandra Dawn V____i would come into play… You and Joe know what your plans are for the name change… So, do what you think looks best and right…. Either way its fine. '

Thanks, Sandra.
I just don't know if I should just leave his first name and then Son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Computer . . .
FH is clearly concerned about this - I can hear him snoring from here.

thats mine too. All he wants to know right now is how much. Than if he hates the price than he's groomzilla. However FH is sound asleep. wish i could say the same.

Re: FH really messing up our invites . . .
I like the Carla Maria and Michael Computer. It's even.... 2 names.... yea one's a first and a middle... and the other is a first and last.. but there's still 2 names so visually it's appealing because it's symmetrical. I like when things are even. haha!
That's my vote!!
Edit to add that mine say Kerri Middle name John Middle name
John's last name isn't with his name. I wanted it to be 2 names for each of us. I think Carla Maria and Michael computer lastname wouldn't be as visually appealing.

Thanks, Kerri! I think I am going to keep his last name - I just read up on this - this website was helpful:
I am the one with no middle name! So our invites are going to say: Marjorie to Frank Joseph
We took out his last name for that reason, so it wouldn't be too long. Also, since my name is on the long side it doesn't look too bad.
I would just go with his first name. Your first and middle names aren't that long, and once everything is centered and in a pretty font I don't think it will look too bad.

In that link I posted above, somewhere in there, it says that 'a man should not be separated from his last name', so I think I'm keeping his, along with my first and middle. This kind of made me realize that the whole process is kind of sexist, oh well.

i think its fine as it is. are you taking his last name? usually the guy's last name stays prominent since the girl usually takes it in some way.
my FH doesnt have a middle name either, and we will probably do it the way you have it.
(on a side note: my dad doesnt have a middle name, but he goes by a common nickname 'Mike'...so the invites actually put Mike as his middle name. lol)

Re: FH really messing up our invites . . .
Neither I nor FH have a middle name. I would just leave the middle names out totally. I don't know anyone except for the people I work with, who use their middle name initials.
