FH so sweet and old fashioned

FH said he wasn't comfortable officially proposing until he asked my parents for my hand in marriage. I know such an old tradition but he did it today and I was so happy. He told me dad, 'I love your daughter and you're such a wonderful family, I've be honored to be part of your family' I got all teary eyed. Now I'm just waiting for the surprise proposal. We chose a custom made ring and I'm pretty sure he got it already but he's trying to keep it a secret so the proposal is a surprise...

I'll let you know how he proposes.
That was so sweet of your FH to speak to your grandpa too!!

Aw, very sweet FH didn't formally 'ask' per se but he did go w/ my dad for my ring which I thought was super cute!

I know the wait is killing me! LOL But I don't think it will happen this week or even this weekend. He's not here this weekend and we're going to a Bridal Show on Wednesday so there goes another week!
I'll let you know when he proposes.

MY FH did the same thing!!!!!! He asked both my parents with my only brother present as well. He told my Dad that b/f he gave me a ring, he wanted to have their consentment. My parents felt soo honored.

I'm still waiting for the ring proposal as well. I'm getting sooooo impatient!!! But everyone says that i am engaged already b/c he asked the most important ppl to me and that was my parents. That the ring is just so I can have on my finger to show off!!

Time is ticking .. tick tock tick tock!!! LOL.

I don't know how much longer I can keep this a secret. I feel like i'm planning my wedding in secret!!! I mean yea my close friends and family know but that's about it. He's like stop being soo impatient.

My Dad told FH that even if he would have gave me the ring first they would still approve, but that he felt really honored that he did things 'the right way' and asked them first. My mom was crying of happiness and my brother made a toast to us. It was soo emotional and nerve wrecking.

It's kind of my fault because I told him he has to make it very special. He told my brother, asking your parents was a piece of cake for me. I'm more nervous about proposing to your sister!

My mom has not kept this a secret at ALL! I had relatives in another country text me congratulations! LOLOLOL
His mom is dying to tell people but won't tell anyone in their family until he gives me the ring. It's kind of funny! He's told his best friends but not his extended family. we went to celebrate his sister's birthday a few weeks ago and his cousin came over to talk to us and she said, how are things? we just said, oh, everything is great. AWKWARD MOMMENT! LOL
My extended family knows because my mom won't stop talking about it.

My mom tooo!!!!! SHe started telling my aunts and cousins right after that night. I had cousins coming up to me congratulating me!! I was like OMG how do you know. They were like your mom told us, she was soo happy she couldn't keep it in. My FH has never been good at suprising me bigtime .. soo I know i'm making it really hard on him to figure out a perfect proposal. I have a feeling he might have the ring already, but perhaps he's still trying to figure out he's going to propose. who knows. In the meantime, I'm actually happy planning in 'secret'. that way nobody can ask me where I am with it, if I have a date already, who I booked with etc....!!

I wish I was so lucky! LOL eventhough we're planning 'in secret'. My entire family knows and we can't invite everyone. (it would be a 500+ wedding if we did!!) So we're now having to add ppl to our guest list as they invite us to THEIR wedding this year... Everyone is asking when is the big day and now....lol... When is he proposing??? Although, I agree with what you said earlier, I think is a formality. The most important part is set and done. Love is what matters more than a ring on my finger to show off.

Awww, that's cute! He wanted it to be perfect!!
That's probably what my poor FH is going through now!!

We booked our RH on February 27th!
we went ring shopping a little over two weeks ago. (yes, we got the RH first and then like two weeks later went to choose a ring...lol)
However, the first
time we spoke about getting married in a very serious way was new year's eve 2010.
we celebrated it together just the two of us. We went to dinner and while at dinner
we were talking about 2011 being a big year because he's moving in with me in June and
getting his MBA in May. Then he said, yes, and we got to plan the wedding. I asked which
wedding????!!!! Then he said, ours!!!! I'm proposing in 2011 and we can plan a 2012 or 2013
wedding! Since my brother graduates in 2013 and I don't like 2013 as our year I said 2012.
The rest is history because he started letting the cat out of the bag, so did I!
Once I told my mother she coudln't stop herself from annoincing it! LOL
He told his mother and she was NOT happy about the NO RING YEt thing. She got on his case about it!
So once we went to the diamond district and chose the ring she was happier, but won't tell a soul until
he gets on one knee. We're told all of our close friends!
It's the worst kept 'secret'. Only his extended family doesn't know at this point.

i was watching a 'say yes to the dress' where the girl and her BOYFRIEND were there looking at dresses. Then when she 'said yes to the dress' he got down on his knee and did a surprise proposal! haha, you're not the only one :)

Now that's kind of crazy!!!
LOL, I did show FH some IDEAS on the STYLES I like, but I can't take him with me dress shopping!!
then he told me he likes ball gowns I like mermaid and A-lines!
I think I'll do a drop waist and we can all be happy!

Awww thats so sweet. FH asked my dad too and it meant a lot to me. I know it meant a lot to my dad too, especially since we had been through a really, really rough time as a family when FH asked my dad. My dad was still in rehab after a horrible accident. It was what my family needed- a happy moment! :)

Awwww I'm glad it brought your family (and future family) closer together as a whole. That's what getting married to the love of your life is all about.

Fh asked my parents if they could put music on. My dad even wanted to bring out some champagne!
