I just had an argument with FH on the phone. I was suggesting that we might need a Day-of-Wedding Coordinator and he flipped out! 'What do we need one for', 'We hired good vendors, they know what they're doing', blah blah blah. I really feel that he has NO CLUE about all the little details on the wedding day. He thinks I'll just wake up, get my makeup and hair done, and show up and have a good time. Is he on crack????
One of the DOC only charges $300 (approx). Doesn't seem like a fortune to give me some peace of mind. Am I being unreasonable????
I love him, but could sure slug him sometimes.....

Aww, Michele! Thats men for you cause they dont see how important and stressful planning a wedding can be. I dont think its much to spend and I hear they can be EXTREMELY helpful!
I think you are being reasonable Just got to explain it again and again until he understands. He'll get there

Re: FH Vent!
Personally, I would not want one...To me it is a waste of money...I know there are little details but I am sure I can handle it & with the help of my MOH & mom, things will go great...There will be things that will go wrong that day, but that is the reality, nothing is perfect
If you want want for piece of mind, you need to convince your FH that you need it...It really is a decision that both of you need to make...

Re: FH Vent!
I honestly think men do not understand too much about weddings. At least that is the way mine is, he has no clue to what things cost and I'm trying to get things that are affordable. If you really want one and will take the pressure off I would do it. Give him a guilt trip tell him you don't want to stress over one of the most important days of your life. It is true, weddings are stressful. Anything that will help is worth it.

i am not hiring one, i feel like the bm at the hall should have a handle on whats going on. but if it will give you peace of mind, i say the $300 would be worth it.

Re: FH Vent!
Call me clueless but what does the wedding day coordinator do? Sounds like he/she would really be helpful you have so many things on your mind and your mom and mother inlaw will have lots of things on their minds as well not everyone will remember everything I think its a good idea.
Can you give me information where to find one and what it is they do

Re: FH Vent!
OMG, I suggested a day of coordinator and my FH looked at me like I was nuts. He doesn't realize how many little details go into the day. He definitely thinks, we both just show up, get married, dance, eat and we live happily ever after.

Re: FH Vent!
I swear -- most men are clueless regarding the amount of details we have to keep track of!!! I know I could do it myself, but honestly, I don't want to have to worry about ANYTHING but having the wedding of my dreams!!
I found a DOC named Judith Garner -- her prices range from $250 and up depending on services and location. Her number is 718-949-5458. A few brides here have used her -- do a search and you'll see. I think Soon2BMrsZ (??) just used her.
From what I understand, they are with you until the very end of reception. They create a timeline for you and make sure everyone sticks to it (which I need because I want photos done BEFORE the CH). They make sure the tables are set up the way you wanted, they tip the vendors and handle any final payments you have. They have an emergency kit on hand when necessary. Among many other things.
I just want peace of mind that day.

I am glad he agreed! I think they are a wise investment. They take care of so many little details that make up the wedding.

Re: FH Vent!
You have plenty of time before your wedding. If you put a little bit of money away for a few months, you should be able to save $300 without him even noticing. As long as it doesn't make a dent in your other wedding costs, it shouldn't bother him. Your peace of mind is important that day.

Re: FH Vent!
maybe you can promise him that you'll make a $300 cut to some other area of your wedding planning so that you can have a coordinator?

Same thing happened to me...his words were 'Brides have been getting married for centuries without them, what are we have a wedding for a King & Queen'' WHY YES WE ARE! LOL
