FH vent

So we were supposed to go get our marriage license this morning. We are just about to walk out the door and I am gathering up the papers. Turns out he doesn't have his official divorce decree!!! He thought some undated and unsigned papers he received for her attorney were good enough! Now we have to wait for his ex-wife to return from vacation next week and get her copy if she still has it! I am about ready to kill him right now.

Where was his divorce final? I was able to go to the courthouse in Jamaica and get a certified copy of mine.

Thanks Celia...it was in Suffolk. I guess worst case scenario we can go there and get it if his ex doesn't have it. I'm just so angry cause I have been telling him about this for weeks and I really don't have any other day to go!

You may not even have to go to the Court. Call the County clerk, they may allow you to mail a letter and a check for a certified copy.

When I worked in a divorce law firm, we did this all the time, and even told a few clients to do this. Of course, this was Nassau courts, and a few years ago, so it might be different now.

Why do you go today to get it and then go for your marriage license right after. It really doesnt take any time at all to get it. I was in and out in 15 min for my divorce papers.

Ugh!!! that is so annoying! nothing like waiting til the last minute!!!! Hope this works out!

Because he is out the door for work now! He swears he's going tomorrow morning to get the papers then next week we will get the marriage license. Just a headache.

On another note as he was walking out the door he said 'Are you complaining about me on that site?' I said 'Yes I am!' I got some major and he asked for me to not complaint about him in 'public' but I said 'too bad....it's your fault!' So now he said he's going to make another site called Long Island Grooms designed solely for complaining about us!
