FH wants.....

to buy season tickets to the mets and it will cost $1500.00

I say noooooooo that is alot of money that we dont have right now and his reasoning is he can put it on a card and pay it off slowly.

What would you tell FH? (We live together and share our money, we have noooooooo spare money what so ever.) Thanks girls

FH and I live together and we both have our personal accounts and a joint account for wedding and eventually for everything in our lives. It's a hard subject because if he works then he deserves to do something for himself with his money as for you it is the same thing...

Whenever I tell FH no dont get this or do this cause of money he says WELL YOU GO SHOPPING

I think if he really wants it, its ok as long as he doesn't do it and waste your money on other things consistently..if its a one time thing I think its ok..

and of course you need to spoil yourself with something

Re: FH wants.....

if you have no spare money i would say H E L L NO!!! I am lenient and dh shops alot and spends his hard earned money on stuff he wants to. But if its going to interfere with bills you have at home or wedding payments then no. Would this $1500 screw you over in making any payments you really have to make?

I understand he wants to put that on a card but he will still have to pay monthly and that money can go towards something else. Plus with the interest he will end up paying more than $1500 for the season tickets. Just figure out how much he would have to pay monthly towards his credit card bill for this and if that will put you in a bad situation financially.

If you have money to spare then that is different and why not do things you really want to do but from your post sounds like you dont at the moment so he really should think this over. Does he usually get to go to alot of games? Dh is a huge yankees fan but he is not able to make it to most games.

I would tell my FH no if he wanted to get tickets for the Islanders. Luckily they s*** so badly now he wouldn't want to. He can play his hockey on saturdays if he wants, because it's free (except for the mental anguish it causes me when he hurts himself). Tell your FH to join a softball team instead lol.

Thats not a bad idea DH plays softball for about 3-4 leagues during the season, so many times even if he wanted to go to a game he can't bc he has his softball games.

thanks for the advice girls and Espo I agree that he shouldnt put it on the card because it will be another payment a month I hadnt thought about it that way.

The only way I'd go for it if you could do a 0% interest rate credit card and then pay it off with some of the wedding money. Then it could maybe be a wedding gift for him, since you got the engagement ring. And that's only if you're not going into serious debt for the wedding.

If you didn't get a ring, tell him he'd best be using that $1500 for something that sparkles.

I would tell him next year when you don't have thousands to spend on a wedding. Better tell him you'll get him tickets as a wedding gift.
