FH does not feel that spending money on a photographer is important...I keep showing him websites of really good photographers, but he is unimpressed. Tonight he said 'We don't have a pot to piss in, but we are going to spend 3k on a photographer?'. ...and he has a good point!! Every photographer I have looked at wants 3k at least...and we are on a MAJOR budget...we are trying to be able to afford a house at the end of this! I am soo STRESSED...sorry...just venting!

I recommend photography. After the day is over you will relive the memories through the pictures. There are cheaper options like hiring the photographer just to take pictures and getting the negatives to print on your own.

Alot of people say 12th night has reasonable packages, i cant tell you pricing bc i didnt meet with them...There are photographers for less than 3k. If you do a search on the boards you will find alot of women say how much they paid and what photographer they used

its ok! Weigh it all out. Determine what are the most important vendors to both of you. Base your budget off of that.
For us, photography WAS the most important part, so a good part of our vendor budget is going towards that. While flowers was least important...hence the small amount we are putting towards it.
Unless you disagree with him, I think you can totally find a great photogrpaher for under $3K. If you're into photojournalistic style, check out the wedding photojournalistic association. www.wpja.com You can definitely find reasonably priced, excellent photographers out there!!

if you need to skimp somewhere DON'T MAKE IT THE PHOTOGRAPHY! Think about, besides your own memories how else will you remember the day once it's all over? It's the only wedding investment that will last longer than 24 hours. . .

I'm sorry you're so stressed!
I think that photography is very important though. When all is said and done.... all that's left are your beautiful memories and the photographs! From what I've heard, the whole day FLIES by and is a huge blur.... but having the pictures will help you relive the day for years to come! I know that it's hard when you're on a budget... but IMO, photography and your band/dj are the two things that i wouldn't go 'cheap' on. i hope you can find an inexpensive photographer without having to sacrifice quality!
one thing you should think about in order to save money, is a DIY album.. hold on, i will find the link to someone who made one (all you have to do is design the pages and they are easy to format... and they'll be printed out for you and bound in a book for MUCH MUCH less than a photographer)

YUP EXACTLY!!!! you have to determine how important photography is to you then budget for less for other things that are not as important.
For me I am obsessed with pictures so FH knew not to even say anything lol

yeah albums can get quite expensive, i mean 1000-2000, and ive seen some that are higher

I agree with what some people are saying. The photos are the only thing you will have forever, you wont have the band, the food, the flowers...but the pictures you will. Thats the only thing FH thinks we should splurge a little more on (and I agree).

you can also just book the photographer and worry about the prints/album at a later point in time...its not the best option but itll make your deposit lower and then if necessary you can use wedding $ to get an album and prints...also a lot of photo places give u the hi-res images so u can print them elsewhere or make a diy album like mentioned earlier.

and you'll end up with a ton of pictures of people making silly faces.... blurred pictures...and dark pictures when people forget to use the flash!
