FH who likes to spend ...

im with ya on this...im the saver..hes the spender. He bought a quad for $2000 yet we still havent bought the plane tickets for my cousins october wedding...im like if you can scrounge up $2000, $800 should be a breeze for you...but nope..no tickets still. It doesn't help that i'm not working either so we are both living off his salary ( which he makes good money and is perfectly capable of supporting us 2..he just chooses to squander his money away )

Oooh I have the SAME issues with my FH!

We almost got into a fight about the flowers bc I wanted to go with a cheaper florist and he fought for the more expensive one!!

FH does the EXACT thing, he keeps threatening to buy a jetski! I told him I would kill him.

Same here... I have saved like twice as much as him and he makes more than I do... He just spends frivolously... Not for the wedding though. He wants a cheap wedding so we can buy a house... In a way I dont blame him... All this on one day when we could be getting a house and really starting our life together instead of living in some rented apt. Oh well!!!

shouldnt it be me who likes to spend and him telling me no ... i hate being the one to say no all the time! he is like a big kid who always wants a new toy bla bla bla ... and even with the wedding he is like whatever who cares how much it costs you only get married once lets just do it ... and doesnt care about the budget. .. and im walking around with my little planner talking about the budget ... BUT i guess thats why we are good match ... i need him to relax me and he needs me to help him with his limits! it just gets annoying always having to remind him that we are not rich and we need to stick to the budget!

OMG you have no idea, my DH LOOOOOOVES to spend money. Glad to see i am not the only one. He has a shopping problem, i remember at the end of 07 we were mostly going to my house, so then all of a sudden one day when i went to his house he had sneaker boxes stacked everywhere, he didnt even have room to put them anywhere. I am talking about 50-75 boxes of sneakers that he had bought just in a few short months, and not even mentioning what he had before. Some people like to shop and spend but he had an addiction lol and i laugh but its not enough funny. People will talk to me about how much clothes they have and i say you have no idea, my Dh is worse than alot of people. I'll put it to you like this, when we moved his stuff i had to give him more room than i even thought he would need. He took up one whole closet that has two racks, a bottom rack just for pants. On top of that had to take up half the room in a long closet in the hallway, its 2 closets made into one, he takes up one whole side. 7 drawers of clothes, and then an addition 3 drawers for socks, ties and underwear. He also has an insane amount of hats, he has this hat holder which is pretty big and its all filled up, plus we have in one of his closets a top shelf all filled with hats and another top shelf in another closet all filled with hats. BUT thats not all, he still has a bunch of clothes at his parents house i still have to find more room to make for him. Oh yeah and theres another hallway closet also a long one that has some of his stuff such as tshirts and wife beaters.

And its not even like he only has a few stuff left at his parents but theres alot. And ALL his winter stuff is ALL still there. During spring/summer he puts all winter things away, so all his jackets, sweaters, long sleeve shirts are all still in his old room. I mean he would need about 4 closets just for himself We have 2 dressers in the BR, the standard one with the mirror but also a long tall one but i think we have to also get another one now.

BUT we've had talks and he realized he has to stop. He has been good the past few months and hasnt been shopping alot. He buys some things here and there but nothing like he used to. He realizes he cant keep shopping like he did. For me its not even funny its a serious issue. Im like you, i have barely bought myself stuff the past 2 years, i hate shopping actually haha. I am definitely the saver and he is the spender...but like you said we balance eachother out. Its good to have someone remind me once in a while to do something for myself, and its good he has me to make him realize he doesnt have to spend so much and help him save. If we both were the savers and didnt spend, there would be times we'd forget to enjoy life, and if we both spent alot then we'd be screwed haha

OMG I thought my FH was the only one!!! I swear money burns a hole in his pockets!!

i mean he has improved A LOT since we started dating ... he used to wear all designered stuff and buy whatever electronic he wanted ...but now he always asks me before he buys something big like right now we have been going back and forth becuase he wants a new computer ... i keep reminding him of allll the stuff we still need to pay for and it keeps him quite for a few days it is really hard and i feel like finances are always going to be one thing we will always disagree about. anyway ... i love him and he has improved sooo if i keep him on this track we will be good shape in about twenty years

FH is a spender and I am the saver (or 'penny pincher, ruiner of all things 'fun' as he calls me'

He goes out buying all sorts of sports stuff. MOre jerseys I say...then with wedding planning I am like 'we have a budget and he;s like ' Its our day, only gonna happen once..blah blah' are you going to do this on everything..

And I sit there and say ' umm instead would you prfer to start our marriage in serious debt for the wedding?

Eventually he realizes I am right and lets me 'work my magic' with the $$..bargaining etc...

FH used to buy WHATEVER he wanted before we started dating..now I get the phone calls..' Umm sweety..you know I love you...Do you think I can buy this jersey...I even checked that its on sale..'

My FH is exactly the same way! He spends money like water and I'm a saver....I feel bad telling him he shouldn't buy things--he works hard for his money and should enjoy it--but sometimes it causes major fights. Everything he buys is completely frivolous and unnecessary

this si why i told fh when we're married and we have a place i'm taking care of all things money related...all money is going into an account and i'll give him what he needs. If i don't i swear i'll end up living in my car with a flat screen tv and gucci shoes
