How would I get the process started finding out if I could get a FHA loan and what the price range for places I can buy are?

Re: FHA lender??
go to any mortgage co or bank. They can tell you all about it and what you are qualified for.

Re: FHA lender??
we used sterling national and were VERY happy with them. we got pre-approved for a loan before we started hunting to find out what our price range should be to look in and that worked out really well for us. good luck and congrats!

Re: FHA lender??
You can start at any bank.. Our realestate agent also worked with a morgage company so we used them.
He was able to check out credit and calculate an 'affordable' home before we even started looking.. my suggestion.. whatever they say is affordable, look for less!!!!
Just a heads up, our FHA loan, and a bunch of my friends was sold from one bank to another within the 1st month.. it's not a big deal, but we were surprised that the bank we got approved by sold the loan in like 20 days to another bank.. so perks of the bank aren't avaliable to us anymore

I work in real estate law, but if your loan gets sold to another bank, any benefit (interest rate, payment, etc) stays with the loan. I haven't heard of a bank giving you perks because you have a mortgage with them, you should have those perks by having an account with them. Because, if you didn't have an account with them, why would you need perks from them?
Also, almost all FHA loans that aren't with a major (i.e., Bank of America) bank get sold. It has to do with originating and servicing.

We got interest rate added to our all ready existing checking account.. now it seems to be gone...

Talk to your bank.....tell them you are going to put your money in another account with another bank. Also, remind them that it wasn't you who sold the loan, but them, and that they should honor the interest rate. HTH!
