So what do you guys call your future in-laws? I always feel weird calling my FFIL by his first name b/c I think it's rude, so I usually just wait for him to look at me to start talking lol.

hahah i always tell my FH it is SO awkward that idk what to call them! We have been dating over 6 years. I find it so weird calling them Mr. and Mrs. S, and my FH said it's fine to call them by their first names, but my mom always hated when my friends called her Mary and not Mrs. T because she said it's rude to say the first names of other people's parents. So to answer your question, I call them by their first names but try to avoid having to call them anything because I just feel like I am being rude for some reason lol

I've known FILs since I was a kid, so I was used to calling them Mr. or Mrs. I call them Mom & Dad in Portuguese, they think it's cute. (They're Portuguese and love that I'm learning it) It was more comfortable for me than to call them by their first names.

This is what I do!!! When I walk into their house I'm like 'hi!' lol. And when I try to get their attention I start talking and hope that someone looks back at me otherwise I end up talking to myself until FH is like 'dad- Steph is talking to you.'
I was hoping for that convo for them to be like 'you can call me mom/dad now...' but it hasn't happened yet lol. FH calls my parents by their first names. I feel weird just saying my FIL's first names. I think this is a problem of our generation because like 99% of the people I know in the generation before us I feel like call their in laws 'mom and dad' so naturally...?

I call them Mom and Dad. They've been like a second set of parents for me for years and I'm like their third daughter, so I'm totally comfortable calling them this.

I do the same exact thing!!! I called FFIL Mr. one time and he looked at me and said..'what am I an old man?- Don't call me that'.....so I just wait for him to look then I start talking...so awkward. FMIL asked me what I wanted to call her right when we got engaged and I said I had no idea. I don't know if I can call them mom and dad without feeling uncomfortable lol

I call them by their first names. When I was growing up, my friends and I all called each other's parents by their first names- my parents HATED the thought of being called Mr. or Mrs. and it seems everyone else's parents did, too.
Neither of us will call each other's parents mom and dad after we get married. I clearly recall my parents calling my grandmas by their first names, so it's the norm for my family I guess. None of my married friends call their in-laws mom and dad, either!

FH's stepmom went out of her way to make me feel comfortable with her so I call her 'mama Vicky'. As for FFIL, it always works out that if I'm with him, I'm also with mama Vicky, FH and maybe one or two people who I call by their first name so when I start speaking if I don't say a name, he knows its to him. FMIL is Linda but she lives in a different state than both FH and me so I don't see her much and don't have to call her anything.

this. Plus FHs parents are divorced and he calls his step dad by his first name so I would feel weird if i called his mom 'mom' his dad 'dad' and then his stepdad by his first name. I plan on just calling them by their first names since I have since day one. FSIL does this with her in laws so Im thinking it would be fine with her parents as well.

Uhm. His mom said I can call her 'mom' but that just makes me feel weird. I don't really ever refer to them when I'm talking to them. FBIL's GF already calls them Mom and Dad to their face and I just feel like thats awkward. I have a hard enough time referring to my own father as 'dad' or my stepdad as 'dad' so idk.. I'm weird about it. When I talk to Tom about them I will say Mom and Dad... and when I'm talking to other people I refer to them as FMIL or FFIL...
I do however... call his Grandma ... Grandma. I never had grandparents growing up and she is just the sweetest thing and I love her so much. Even my stepfathers parents refer to themselves and 'grandma and grandad' I can't call them that... but I feel so good around Tom's Grandma that she's just Grandma :)

I call FHs mother either by her first name or Mami (she's spanish). She doesn't care either way. FH will call my dad and his wife by their first names.

This is too funny, I had no clue what to call them at first so I would just avoid it all together hahah. Now I call FMil 'Ma' it just kinda happened accidentally and I stuck with it. FFiL I usually refer to as Poppy thats what all the grandkids call him in the family and we call him that to his 'grandpup' lol so I call him that, but not to his face lol. To his face I usually call him 'Mr. Frank' which is still weird but started as a joke actually. So weird.

I've been calling FH's mom and grandma as 'mom' and 'grandma' for a while now. It isn't awkward for any of us, and they are like my second family, so I had no qualms about calling them mom and grandma. FH's dad is not close to the family, so if I do meet him, I call him Mr. Kogler. I call my mom 'mummy' or 'ma' and my dad 'daddy' and I know I'd never call anyone except my parents mummy and daddy. So I guess it all works out.

Haha i honestly don't call them anything! We started dating at 15 so there was no way I was going to call them by their first names and Mr/Mrs H felt awkward. i just talk to them without saying their name... lol. But i would love to eventually start calling them mom and dad once we get married!

I call them both by their first names now, but it took me at least 3 years to get the courage :P. Honestly I still feel awkward doing it, but that's what they've asked me to call them!

I go back and forth with FMIL between mom and her first name.. His dad I have always called dad.. I normally him in very realxed settings so it just comes out. Hey Dad! Whats up!! both his step parents I call by their first name.. He calls my parents by their name i think although I have never heard him actually say a name actually
