FI and I are having a disagreement

For our first song I want to dance completely alone with him throughout the whole song. He wants to dance alone for the first couple of minutes then have the BP join in. I know that is how the tradition goes. But for our first time as husband and wife i want all eyes on us. I am not one to be center of attraction. I'm the type that hangs in the corner. But for this one night, i want to be the center. How should I convince him? Am I the only one who wants our first dance to be only us?

I have to agree with you. My BP don't want to join us for our first dance. Plus I like the fact that all eyes will be on us.

I totally agree with you the first dance should b e all about you and your FH most people do the first dance just you two then t hey pick another song right after where they dance the first few minutes and then have the BP join and the rest of their guest

Number one its YOUR song - Number two like you said its your first dance as Husband and wife -

I am doing the same thing! He will come around -

What I am going to do is shorten the song a little have it fade to something else and then everyone can join us!

I know my FH is very uncomfortable with the whole dancing thing... I haven't asked him about this yet, but he might say the same thing.. boys are weird when it comes to dancing.

Here's another reason why I want it to be just us. HE REFUSES TO DANCE ANY OTHER TIME OF THE NIGHT . and that's including reg fast songs. so i want him to myself for 1 song. He's a complete sports bar guy. i love the bars better than clubs too, but at a party of any sort, if there is music i wanna dance.

thanks ladies, i'm so glad you guys agree with me.

I'll bring up the idea of towards the end of the song to fade it out into another song so everyone else can join it.

We are dancing the song all alone. We are doing the 'dance on a cloud' with a smoke machine, it's really pretty.

I agree with you & FH & I have had this discussion...Luckily he agrees with me...I want OUR first dance to be OURS! Then we are going to have the bridal party join in on a song after that! It is so nice to have all eyes on us!

Def dance alone to your song, esp if he refuses to dance again that night. It's all about you 2 as husband and wife, no one else should steal any of that attention away. You can dance 1st and then the 2nd song ask your BP to join you.

I agree with you. Me and fh are dancing to the first song all alone, and we will have a second song where the bridal party and guests can join us.

Can I tell you, I just adore this board and website. Every one is so nice, helpful, honest, sympathetic, etc... I'm so glad I found this place.

We want to dance alone. The last few weddings I've been to have been done this way as well.

You should have your moment alone together. Personally, I dont like when the BP dances together at all - especially when the groom's side doesn't know the brides side. It looks awkward to me and I never enjoyed it when I had to do it as a bridesmaid.
