Okay, after 3 fittings the dress is almost ready But what I want to know is do you try the dress on at the final pick up or is do you just look it over and then take it home right before the wedding???

Re: Final dress fitting
Personally, I will want to try mine on first to make sure everything fits right. I wouldn't want to find out something isn't right the day of.

I am going to insist on it but some places frown upon it because they have already pressed the dress for you.

If they made any adjustments to it AT ALL since the last time you had it on, I would definitely try it on. If it's only been pressed since the last time you were in it, I probably wouldn't. So EXCITING!!!!!

Def try it on- I don't care what they tell you ! if it needs to be pressed again, then tell them to do it, but you should absolutely try it on ! i learned that one when my cousin picked up her gown, put it on the day of the wedding, and the bodice was too big!

I tried mine on. They actually told me too since I had alterations done at the prior fitting. They resteamed it before they gave it back to me. SO EXCITING!!

Definitely try it on!
I didn't and my dress was an alterations nightmare the morning of the wedding. It fit horribly, and nothing like it did at my final fitting.
But I found out too late to do anything.

I would try it on -- you never know. As far as the pressing. My salon told me that dresses really ought be pressed (especially silk, less so lace) RIGHT before the event -- so press Friday for a Sat wedding kind of thing. So, if you are picking it up two weeks eraly, chances are it will need to be pressed again if it is of such materials.

Re: Final dress fitting
I picked up and tried on my dress the Friday before my Saturday wedding. I had work done to it so I wanted to make sure it fit properly. If it didn't they would have had to fix it on the spot. I acutally had them tighten I button that looked loose. I waited then they resteamed it a little and hung it up for me.

Re: Final dress fitting
Would putting the dress on for 5 minutes mean it would need to be repressed?

They resteamed mine slightly after I tried it on because I had them bustle the gown to make sure the length was okay since I changed that at my prior fitting.
