I could be wrong but I am pretty sure you do it like a week before the wedding. I know it needs to be done close to the wedding date but not too close so that if additional alterations are needed they have enough time to get them done before you pick up your dress

right ... i have my last (probably) alterations appointment next week (about 2 weeks before the wedding) ... and then i will have one last fitting a few days before the wedding (just in case i gain / lose a lot of weight because of the stress)

Mine was 2 weeks before the wedding, then I picked up the gown 4 days before.
