FINAL HEAD COUNT?!?!?!?!

Did u or are u giving your actually final head count on ur final metting with ur venue? or are giving a lower number in fear for no shows?

That would make me crazy!!! Even a couple is too many, but I figured I can deal with that by making the final number a few less than it really is

I think I'm gonna give less people too, when I asked my principal if she was coming, she said she totally forgot to send her rsvp, and then said yes, she's coming. But to tell u the truth I think she said yes 'cause she felt on the spot, plus other teachers and school staff have told me she never goes to any events...hmmm...I guess I'm just gonna have to wait and see

for those that gave less, waht did you do the day of when the tables were short a place setting???

according to other posts I've read in here, venues don't have a problem accomodating those few guests who actudally end up showing up at the last minute, supposedly they have this into consideration when preparing the food for the rest of the guests and I've also read that some venues (if the number of last minute guests is insignificant) don't charge u extra, if they do, u can pay them at the end of the night

I am going to give 3-4 less keeping in mind those who I think will drop out at the last minute. The day before the wedding if I get no cancellations, im going to let my RH know and just pay the difference. I debated whether I wanted to wait until the wedding day to see who shows up but the process requires a lot of attention and it sounds stressful. On my wedding day, I dont need another thing to worry about. Basically, this what another bride told me to do....
Depending on how many people you are going to have seated at a table, you would arrange the seating so that a couple of tables have an extra seat. For example, if your using a table that seats 12, u would do a couple of tables where there are 11 people seated there. When printing out ur escort cards, include everyone just in case the 'flakes' show up. Then, you need to have someone keep an eye on who came and who didnt (perhaps a bridesmaid, MOH, or your Mom). If the people that you think wont show, actually DONT show up, u do nothing. But if they DO show up, u need to let your RH know (during the cocktail hour I would imagine) that they arrived and that u need to seat them at so and so table that only had 11 people seated. It makes sense but its too complicated for me and I dont want to make someone stand around with list checking off who came and who didnt lol. Perhaps theres an easier way to do it but so far I have yet to hear of one.

We gave our final headcount 10 days before the wedding...between that day and the day of the final payment (4 days prior) we had 8 people cancel!!! But thankfully my mom told me to give a lower count so we did and it was perfect. They have no problem accommodating more people and then they bill you at the end of the wedding....imo its easier than trying to get a refund!

Yes but we have to submit a seating chart with specific seats at every table and the favor count. Did anyone have to do that too and what did you do about the numbers?

BUT, i need to give my seating chart- with the number of place settings at each table- to my hall tomorrow

so my question--WHO and HOW will they let the hall know...that table 2 needs 1 or 2 more place settings the day of?

my seating chart is done and we are at 125...but im going to tell hall 120to cover my butt

but when the seating chart i hand in, is missing 5 seats...how will they fix this the day of, like who will tell them to fill in 5 more seats??

I gave my final list to my DOC (same lady you're using I think ), and then on the day of she coordinated w/ the hall, set up seating, etc... I actually never ended up giving my hall a seating chart, but my hall also ****** BIG balls, so they didn't even realize that I didn't give them one.

no my hall will DEF be taking the seating chart from me

so i just need to remember which tables need an extra seat and ill tell my doc!

if u're seating 12 ppl in each table, u don't necessary have to fill out 12 seats. Try to leave 1 or 2 empty chairs in 2 or 3 tables but try to choose tables that are not too close from where the bride/groom will be seating. I've heard brides (or anybody assigned by the bride like a MOH, MOB, etc) either calling the venue the day before or even during the day of the wedding informing them about those 'last minute' guests. I've also heard that venues don't actually count table seating cards because of the many combinations that can happen, e.g. Family Smith - Table 7, that family can have 3, 4, 5 etc family members
