I spoke to 1 photographer who asked for the final payment 2 weeks before our wedding. I thought that was so strange. Just wondering when final payments on photographers, DJs, etc are due. I would think for photography it would be when you pickup your album. What if you're not satisfied?

all our payments r due in full at least 2 weeks b4 the wedding except phot/video last payment is due when we see proofs..i think it was 10%

you are right, 2/3 of mine is due before the wedding, and the rest when we pick up the proofs. I assume all photographers arn't the same...but I wouldn't want to pay in full either.

our final balance is due one month before actually. I would expect most get paid up front. def before the wedding.

i stand corrected. seems it varies. I just checked a contract from another photog i was looking at and his balance was due the day of the wedding...

your photographer should not get a final payment until you get your proofs...you def want to see the finished product before you give the rest of the money! seems shady that they would want all of the money beforehand.
eta: other vendors are different...like dj we give final payment the day off...same with many florists

just about all our payments were due 2 weeks before the wedding.
With our photographer and videographer we also had a payment for them 2 weeks before but it wasnt for full amount. They split it half before the wedding and then the other half when you pick up the album/video. But the half we owed before the wedding was divided into about 3 installments and one was due 2 weeks before. So that might be what they mean.

I have a third due 30 days prior to the wedding and the final third is due the day of the wedding or earlier if we prefer...

all mine are due the week before...the photog has a small balance that is due when i get the proofs. Other than that...I just have to pay the bands balance the day of

we don't pay our photographer/videographer anything else until after the wedding. we have payments spread out after the wedding......i forget the exact percentages, but it's when we get our proofs, then when we get our album, then our final is when we get the final copies of the dvds

I wonder why would my photographer want the final payment the day of the wedding. I think because he puts all the pictures up on his website the next day...

We paid our photo/video one month before the wedding but we get to also hold back over 1K until we pick up albums. So I guess that is technically the 'final' payment.
We already paid off the florist at our final meeting and we will probably pay off the DJ next week when we have our final meeting (our wedding is in 18 days). Our final RH payment is due a few days before the wedding (only because we can't pay on Shabbat, obviously, and we don't want to deal with it on the day of the wedding so we are paying on the Thursday before).

Most of my vendors will be due day of, except for florist, which is like 3 days prior. Photo/video final payment is when we pick up album and when we pick up video. We saw one photographer who required final payment like 2 months prior, and he got axed off the list of contention for that reason alone. I wouldn't feel comfortable with that, what's the incentive to show?

photo & video shouldn't receive their final payments until after you have received either proofs or dvd.

my photog and videog want payment in full 2 weeks before. I really dont have a problem with it any vendor can screw you over regardless. florist dj limo so just go with reputable people.

my photographer wants $500 of the balance to pick up the proofs and $100 to pick up the album and they both come at different times.

Majority of my vendors want the balance in full between 3 weeks before - the day of the wedding. Every vendor is different, but photo wanting everything upfront does seem kind of normal to me, a friend of mine did that and I will have to do it too
