Come on mets fans. Can't the Yankee fans post without you guys (and girls) saying something nasty for once? Just don't read the posts if the topic is not of interest to you.
Maybe I'm being over sensitive but I'm just tired of hearing it on this site everytime something good or bad happens to the Yankees. Let me say it again, the Braves should be your rivals, not the Yankees. We're in completly different leagues. Personally I don't care if the Mets go 0-162 or 162-0. It doesn't affect me at all unless the Yankees are playing them in the WS. Then I'll start talking trash about the Mets. For now, why do you care if the Yankee fans are happy that they won today? I just don't get it.

I have seen it as a two way street... whoever wins gets bashed.. whoever loses gets bashed.. it's all about fun.
I personally LOVE all the Yankee fans on here.. they're such adorable 'villians' to us Mets fans

OOOH! Now we're gonna get nasty.
Let me spell it out for you like this. The month was October. The year was 2000. It was Game 5 of the World Series. The Yankees beat the Mets to win the Series. That was fine -- we got beat by the better team, and I don't have a problem with the TEAM. I was leaving Shea and was harassed by a dozen or so Yankee fans, was cursed at, had stuff thrown at me and my wife.
Now, you guys on the board are cool and folks like nylisa and FeliciaDA, we kid around a bit, but they're good people. But, after my experience being a Met fan in Yankee town, while a good 50% of the supposed diehard Yankee fans think Babe Ruth is a candy bar, and after MLB has let the Yankees set the bar so high that no team can comepete with them aside from a few, excuse me for being a tad bitter. Not because I'm a Met fan, but because I am a baseball fan and MLB, the Yankees and the Texas Rangers (by offering A-Rod that ridiculous contract in first place are ruining baseball.

Ok those are exceptions to how most Yankee fans are. And I don't think you should take that out on people who post over a web site. I have not been treated with open arms when I've gone to Shea-when they are playing the Yankees or playing a different team. Do I hash out at the Mets posts? No. I don't see a need to have this rival between the 2 teams. When the Mets lose, I don't rub it in to the fans. When the Mets win I don't hop on the post and rain on the parade. I just don't see a need for it.
You can be bitter. All that I'm saying is do you have to have a negative comment to what seems like every Yankee post? I'm all for some good fun and teasing-especially when the stupid inter-league play rolls around and the 2 teams actually play each other. But come on-it's 9 games in. Fans are excited about winning. Let them post.

Come on boys and girls lets play nice. Yes I am a Yankee fan till the day I die. Cut me open and I bleed yankee pinstripes, however more importanly I am a die hard baseball fan as I think most of us are. As this long 162 game season goes on please keep that in mind a be nice to your fellow baseball fans. Keep the american past time rich in pride and stop it from becoming the nonsense it is becoming. True yankee fans remember the 70's and 80's when we sucked but we hung in there and true Met fans are still hanging in there. Cheer for your team, show your passion for them but show some respect for those who feel the same about a team that you may hate the way you feel about yours. Ok time to get off my soap box now. thanks for hearing my ' I love baseball' speech. Play Ball!

Oh my Goodness, how did this post take such a turn overnight??
I'm a diehard, loyal Yankee fan --this goes without saying. Yet I enjoy & respect Don and OctGroom's posts about the Mets, and I actually get a kick out of when they try to rile up the Yankee fans on the boards (heck I guess I'm not one of those 'sensitive' Yankee fans you described , Don .. LOL ) If we all loved the same team it would be incredibly boring, dontcha think? And I think any true sports fan would say that a big part of what makes sports so enjoyable is the constant 'trash talking' about the opposition....
I've been a victim of verbal abuse by Mets fans as a Yankee fan at Shea; and I don't doubt for a second that Mets fans have found Yankee Stadium a hostile environment . But as for here, on these boards, I don't find anything intentionally vicious and/or mean spirited about OctGroom or Don's posts ... Lord knows I try to give it back to them as often as I can
I love baseball first and foremost and will debate ANY fan of ANY team on the subject. But my loyalty will always lie with my beloved Yankees. Bottom line though: I RESPECT ANY LOYAL FAN, Mets or otherwise. And in NY, its a given that Yankee & Mets fans (on a whole) will always push each others buttons and start a little harmless trouble ..
Please PLEASE can we not turn BASEBALL into drama? Everyone grow a thick skin and learn to take a little flak from the opposition .. I don't want to start seeing baseball posts pulled left and right because people cannot take a little ribbing here and there.

i agree wholeheartedly -- i respect everyone on the boards -- the yankee - met thing is fun -- NY would be boring without it. I hate it when this happens. I post a whole response and then the site slows down and wont let me post it. Now I have to type this again.
I wasn't looking to start an arguement. I'm not asking anyone to not trash talk the Yankees or the Mets. I'm simply pointing out that it seems like every Yankee post has a met fan saying something negative. I'm just asking to give it a rest a little bit.
Did I really turn this into a big thing? I don't think so. Did I say you don't respect the Yankee fans? I don't see where I said that. All that I'm asking is that you give it a break every now and then. I even said I'm up for trash talk. But does it need to be a constant thing about who cares that they won, they should beat the Devil Rays and who cares they won-they should with their payroll. I for one was very happy about the win yesterday. Why? Because if you ask me the Yankees have been disappointing so far this season. And they have a big series against Boston this weekend. I'm glad they won so they go in on a good note. I'm sure most diehard Yankee fans feel the same way I do.
I wasn't looking to start 'drama'. Anyone on this site who knows me knows that I stay clear of the drama. I'm just asking that you don't rain on our parade everytime and I wont rain on yours. I respect true baseball fans-even Mets fans. I've told OctGroom how I respect him as a baseball fan. I like that we have true baseball fans on this site-it gives me something to really post about. Believe me I welcome the trash talk. I'm sure there will be plenty of times this season that I say something bad about the Mets. But if we're going to have these kinds of posts everytime the Mets and Yankees play a game-we're in for a long season.
Let's move past this. I welcome all conversations with baseball fans-except Red Sox fans. You can rot in hell with Babe Ruth

In my opinion, what I was doing was not 'trash talk', it was banter, which is what me, Felicia, OctGroom and nylisa have been doing since opening day. It's all in good fun and everyone understands that.
All of a sudden, it seemed like Jenn524 came out of nowhere and ask that we all stop posting when the Mets and the Yankees win or lose.
I'm not trying to cause drama, but I think different opinions liven up the boards and again like I said, if I had been out of line, Felicia, OctGroom or nylisa would have told me because we've been doing this before the season started.

If the Yankees win and the fans are happy, I dont think we are taking anything away from them by us posting. The Mets won last night and if someone came on today and said the Mets stink, etc... I wouldnt care because I am happy that my team won.
I think what you need to do is just go with the flow and dont take it so seriously. Its just baseball.

No correction needed, we could go back and forth on this all day and it would get us nowhere. You feel your way, I feel mine. You made your observation, I made mine. I'm not going to change how I conduct myself in regards to the baseball posts because everyone should understand that it's all in good fun. And you shouldn't change either. It's a public board and everyone has a right to say what they want, within reason.
So, I'm closing this conversation and everything goes back to the way it was. And in regards to tonight Yankees - Red Sox game, I won't start a riot, but I think everyone knows who I am pulling for. let's put it this way -- today's a day for some New England Clam Chowder and some Boston Cream Pie!!

in all honesty, personal opinions aside, that should be some game tonight -- vasquez vs. wakefield -- i'll watch that instead of mets -expos any day
