Finally made my first dress appointment!

Finally made my first dress appointment!

I decided that I really should at least try on one dress since I'll have been engaged for a year in September. So, my first place is the Wedding Salon of Manhasset in August. Any tips on dress shopping? I have an idea of what style I'm looking for, but I haven't decided how much I'd like to spend.

The best tip I got was to tell whoever you're bringing with you that they are not allowed to say a word until you have said how you feel about the dress. It definitely helps because other people might influence your decision too much.

Try on every style the first time- strapless, halter, tank, with sleeves etc. I never thought I would wear a strapless gown(I have nothing on top!) but that style looked the most flattering.

I also tried on dresses there and I could kick myself for not doing a couple of things. First, you can get help from the sales associates(Betty is really nice) to pick out several styles to try on. Then, whoever comes with you have them bring a digital camera and take a picture of you in each dress. I don't think you can let them see you do that but the dressing rooms are a reasonable size and you can take them in there. So try on the dress and take a qucik picture then invite the saleslady back in if needed ot go out into the main are to the big mirror.

Then you can look at those pictures later and decide on which style you look best in, pictures never lie. Good luck
