Finally someone is excited for me! How much is too much for a gown?
Finally someone is excited for us! My darling aunt is apparently so excited for me and Danny that she said she wants to take me dress shopping and buy my dress for me -- no budget!
I really appreciate this but I'm afraid to pick out something too expensive. I'm looking for a ballgown, I think with a little glitz. I've liked some of the Kenneth Pool dresses I saw online, but haven't really looked much.
My aunt wants to take me to Kleinfields this weekend so we can look at dresses. I probably need to order ASAP because I heard dresses take a long time to come in. My fiance is calling some halls tonight so hopefully we will decide on August or November.
Any suggestions? How much is too much to spend on a gown when someone else is paying?

I had a ball goen by Eve of Milady and it was gorgeous....Eve of Milady makes ball gowns with some glitz!!!! Check out my album

The cost of a gown ranges based on who makes it.
I know my dress was right around $1k before alterations, its a Maggie Sotterro.
I think I read that Kenneth Pool dresses start in the $4k-$5k range.

what is normal for a wedding dress? I don't want to fall in love with something too expensive since my aunt is going to pay for it. However, every time I ask her for a budget she says there is none. I want to be really happy but its making me anxious.

the prices of gowns can range from $500 to $20K, and more i'm sure. someone asked about kenneth poole yesterday, and i believe the range for those dresses were $4K - $11K.

my dress is a demetrios.....since i had to pay for it myself i didnt want to spend alot there were other things that were more important to me than a dress i was going to wear once.....of course if someone else was paying and they had $$ im sure i could find a nice kenneth pool - they are gorgeous!!!!! demetrios dresses arent that expensive - i have a feeling that their most expensive dresses are the same price that other designers like kenneth pool start at......

I would just go shopping with her and try on dresses in the style that you like. . .I'm sure you'll find dresses that look great on you in any price range. Once you figure out which ones you like, you and Aunt can talk about the money involved and that might help your decision. You might fall in love with a $2k dress!!! (or less, I only started there because its Kleinfelds)

I think the price also varies depending on where you get the gown as well. I found my gown at two places and there was a $500 difference in price between the two stores.

if you want to go to kleinfelds this weekend make an appointment ASAP bc its by appointment only and have a cc handy before you call bc to make an appointment you have to give them a CC number. This is only if you cancel your appointment less than 24 before they charge you $50
i don't know this is a hard question to answer. But what i can answer is that kenneth pool dresses are between $4k-11k. And dresses at kleinfelds are $1800 and up, just generalinfo

just to note- you might find something you love in kleinfelds but you might be able to get it somewhere else for less!
the dress i got varies store to store.....i've seen it for $500 more than it was where i bought it

and when making the appointment, ask if you can request a particular salesperson. Ask for Judith lerner. The reason why is bc like any place the salesperson can make or break your experience, and every place has good and bad people. Judith NEVER asked me what my budget was, which is good bc some come right out to ask you which i think is rude and some act snobby. She was the sweetest person, and even let me stay longer than the 90 min appointments at kleinfelds.

If you're worried about spending too much, you might want to ask to see dresses up to $2000 first, and if nothng strikes your fancy then you can move up the price ladder...just a suggestion, of course!

No problem good luck and have a great time...don't stress this now, wait until you see the dresses first that you like and the price range. You'll know what to do when you're there and can figure it out then

when i first started looking i refused to see anything that was 3K or over.......that was my budget........i knew if i didnt do that there was a chance id fall in love with something out of my price range and i would end up buying it
so of course when i found the dress i liked and saw the price tag i was very happy
