FINALLY things are getting done RE: my dad

ok ive written before about the idiot parade my dad has been dealing with in the hospital. Well i briefly said last night what happened, they tried discharging him i spoke to one doctor who i told the situation to and he said 'oh its insurance problems' so i say if its insurance problems why didnt anybody tell us until now and maybe this could've gotten resolved. So my dad goes this morning at 8am to administration and guess what, THERE IS NO INSURANCE PROBLEM!!!! they said no, you're cleared for the operation all the paper work has been processed for a while now. SO my dad flips out this morning, is arguing with everybody there and gets a case worker which is what the security guard advised us to do lol yes the security guard is the only person there who told us what to do, how ridiculous is that.

So the one doctor who said from Monday that he arranged for lennox hill hospital to come get him, goes today in the room and for some reason has an obsession with my dad getting the hemorrhoids surgery and said thats what he scheduled him for. The doctor who performs hemorrhoids surgery there came to tell the cardiac doctor-NOOOOOO i will not perform this surgery on him, his chances are very low and he can die, even the anesthesiologist came in and said there is no way they would do that when someone has a heart problem bc the anesthesia can kill him. I dont understand what obsession this doctor had with my dad getting this. I mean the man has 2 blocked arteries and his concern is my dads hemorrhoids like seriously not a big F*IN deal at the moment.

FINALLY another doctor came in and said they will take care of everything when he heard everything that has been happening and he called lennox hill today and said they will come get him on sunday. Now bc of what we went through, it was hard to really believe what we're being told so i didnt trust anything they said. I just pictured sunday coming around and NOTHING happening and needed answers. I called lennox hill hospital myself, call admitting office and told them the situation and if i can find out if my dad is really on a list bc i dont trust the doctors. Well the guy told me that YES somebody called TODAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! so for 4 days they kept telling my dad oh yeah lennox hill is comign today and nobody even called. I told my dad, mom and fh last night that i will bet that nobody called lennox hill and i F*IN knew it. But now i just feel so much better bc lennox hill told me my dad is pre-admitted for 2/3/08. At least now we can just stop stressing and knowing it will finally happen

I cannot believe all this NONSENSE you had to go through. I'm keeping my fingers crossed they come get him Sunday. I'm glad to hear that he is on the list though so they know he's supposed to get there!

it is discouraging to have to rely on the medical professionals in the world and find them to be morally corrupt.

I hope everything goes smooth from here on out.

I would definitely take steps to make sure this whole predicament gets attention by hospital administrators and board members.

yeah we can relax a bit now knowning that hes FINALLY been pre-admitted. I cant believe this either and how that one doctor is still practicing is beyond me. I can sit here and tell you that a person with heart problems has a big risk if they have anesthesia, shouldn't a cardiac doctor know this?

I am glad this is finally getting straightened out. What a ridiculous time your family has had with this hospital. Maybe you should write a letter to the administration or the hospital board because it's a shame that your dad had to go through this unecessary stress when I am sure that he is stressed enough having to think about surgery. I bet it probably happens all of the time which is also really scary.

I am definitely going to write a letter because this was horrible. I feel bad because my dad said hes not leaving the hospital when one doctor tried discharging him. He was real scared of them doing this bc this happened to his friend. They discharged him and his friend had a heart attack soon after and became paralyzed and had brain damage...he died shortly after so my dad kept thinking about this and said hes not leaving bc he was scared of something happening

I'm glad that he stayed. I can't understand how some doctors do the things that they do and feel comfortable about it. Thats really sad about his friend. I used to do therapy with TBI patients and most of them got their brain injury as a result of a heart attack or a stroke so I can't possible understand how a cardiologist would be comfortable discharging a patient home fully aware that they need to be treated.

Yeah one doctor who didnt know the whole situation kept trying to discharge him last night, my dad is like 'IM not leaving, you can call security if you want' lol

see thats so sad, some people unfortunately suffer great consequences because of such decisions. I can't understand it either.

I haven't been on much this week, sorry to hear what's going on. Hope all goes well and Dad has a full, speedy recovery!
