FINALLY UPDATED WITH PIC...COME SEE...Made my OWN invites Sample!!!!

Ok, I know a bunch of you will say 'WAIT!' But read on...

Yes, I am getting married in June 2006, but I have had this vision in my mind of the invitations I want. I have search UP and down for them, or at least something like them, with NO luck.

I then exchanged a few emails with SonicSteph, who was great at getting my idea and gave me a rough estimate of $600 for 100 invites.

I then decided to go to Pearle Paint (my fave store--I am way too crafty for my own good) and bought some card stock and slightly thicker-than-regular papaer (but not as thick as card stock) and made up some of my own, so I have a 'sample' to try and shop around for custom invites.

I showed my FH and he LOVED them. Also showed my MOH, she too loved them. FH said 'You can make our invites' Which I would be cool with, but this was time consuming, mostly for the lining up of the type etc. I think I could do it!

The cost would be about 1.10 each, that'd include 1 invite, 1 reception card, 1 response card w/ envelope and 1 envelope to mail in.

Only thing is 1- printing the return address on the back flap, had challenges with that.
and 2- no inner envelope. Is that REALLY necessary?

Oh, I will post a pic tonight, I am at work now. I am SO proud of myself. And if I do them, I have PLENTY of time to work out the kinks.

-Jill

See the Reply ALL the way at the end for the pics...FINALLY found my digital camera battery charger!

Re: Made my OWN invites Sample!!!!

First off, that's awesome that you were able to do something so creative one your own. As for your few issues, no an inner envelope if not necessary. As far as the return address goes, why don't you call your local printing place (not an invitation store) and see how much they would charge to do it. The added expense will be well worth the aggravation you will save yourself.

Re: Made my OWN invites Sample!!!!

Just FYI... I printed the return on the back of my envelopes by feeding them thru my printer upside down (flap closed) and reversed the print on the printer 180 degrees.
They came out perfect.

I had to do them one at a time mind you -- but it saved me some $$$ to do it myself.

Also check for inner envelopes at PickQuick paper on Rte 110 Farmingdale.
They have all SORTS of different sized envelopes.

I wish I was more crafty!

that sounds great that you can do them on your own! Inner envelope is NOT necessary....it just looks good.

Re: Made my OWN invites Sample!!!!

Okay, Okay, don't be mad. I can't find the charger for my digital camera. So therefore, I can't turn it on to take a picture. I was planning to take picture when I got home from work, but had been searching up and down for it. Can't find it. I am frustrated. Trust me, as soon as I can, I will post pics.

Just to give you an idea. It's black card stock with pink on top, then eggshell (not white and not ivory). The printing is on the eggshell in black. The invite is square, response card is 5'x 3 1/2'.

SO sorry.

-Jill

Re: Made my OWN invites Sample!!!!

You could use an embosser for the return address and inner envelopes are not necessary.

I am dying to see them though.

Re: FINALLY UPDATED WITH PIC...COME SEE...Made my OWN invites Sample!!!!

Bear with me, I may need to resize. The pics are of sample invite and response card. One set printed and one set blank. The printed ones are not as good (cut paper wrong and printed off center) bt they are just a practice set.

Let me know what you think. Color scheme is going to be pink and sage/celery green.

Re: FINALLY UPDATED WITH PIC...COME SEE...Made my OWN invites Sample!!!!

Those look great!! They look so similar to the ones I was posting about on the '05 board--but less money--great job!!

As for the return address on the flap, you could always get an embosser as someone mentioned or you could have a stamp made with your names & address.

Re: FINALLY UPDATED WITH PIC...COME SEE...Made my OWN invites Sample!!!!

Thanks girls!

Jennie--I like those! See, I had been looking ALL over for exactly what I wanted, had NO luck. FH loves the ones I made, said I have plenty of time to make them! He even said he'd buy me a paper slicer, so the edges are clean and even! He's too sweet.
