Finding Joy in Wedding Planning
Okay... I really need some help .. and I think you guys have enough positive happiness to blow me away...
How did you become thrilled, happy about wedding Planning?
Because.. I can't seem to get onboard. and it's my wedding.
*sigh*
A bit of background...
Two of my close friends were planning their weddings back 2 years ago, a year and a half ago - and I became obsessed. I knew then I loved FH, I wanted to be with FH, I wanted to get married and finally live with him and put an end to our long distance relationship.
I was Obsessed with everything wedding.
I was only a bridesmaide and bridesmaid (honorary MOH) but I was obsessed. I spent hours surfing weddings blogs, pinning ideas, looking at Djs for the other girls and secretly wishing it was my wedding. I did so much of the planning for them.
I was so happy for them, but at the time I plotted out like my whole dream wedding.
FH proposed to me last April - to be honest, it wasn't a suprise or romantic like I hoped, but I was so happy.
I still am - I love FH to pieces and want nothing more than to be with him. I want to live with him (family is against the whole livign together before wedding, so we're sorta trying to make them happy) and I know he's for the one for me.
But now that I'm in the reality of wedding planning - confronted by researching vendors, finding what vendors are good an trust worthy for the best rate, comparing prices figuring out all the details like
venue - dj - photographer - limo- flowers - dress - groomswear - bridal party - travel - hotels - honey moon - living arrangements post wedding - etc etc etc
It's overwhelming. I hate it.
I sorta just want someone to put everything together, and I'l show up. I feel so stressed, confused and lost.Probably doesn't help that my mom isn't interested in helping at all and all my bridesmaids are elsewhere. I feel like no one's excited for us - so why should I care.
I'd elope, but there's part of me that wants a big party to bring our friens who are scattered across the U.S. Togther and its important to FH, who has a huge family he's close to.
How to find the motivation to care?
