Re: fine china

I registered for it, but I wanted it. It really is a matter of preference.

Re: fine china

We registered for it because we wanted it. I love to entertain. We also got engaged well before the recession and also originally had crystal and silverware on the registry.

I think if you're ambivalent about it, you should just register for one set of china that's neutral and can be dressed up or down (like lenox butler's pantry or anything from the 'simply fine' collection). That way it can serve both purposes. You're also better off that way with a small guest list because it would be a LOT less useful to you to have half a set of fine china and half a set of every day. We've been engaged for so long we already have all of our main dishes for every day (butterfly meadow comes by piece), and 7 place settings of our fine, so I think we'll be in good shape, but if we were just starting a registry now, even with a 200 person guest list I think I would re-think it.

Right now instead of silver I have 2 sets of stainless, one is fancier. I am thinking of taking the 2nd set off. The first once can really match our everyday OR our fine, and we can always buy ourselves a set later on.

Don't forget you'll also need to store all of this stuff, and if you're like me, your first place together won't be enormous!

im not registering for that. one of my friends has it and like, has crystal goblets when we come over ... depends on how and who you entertain

Beautiful! That's exactly the kind of thing I was referencing in the other post! It can really go either way!

I love the lenox harvest goblets. The colors are amazing. You can use that neutral pallette for everyday or any holiday

I wasn't going to register for it but I fell in love with a set and then started having visions of having company over and everyone loving them.
