Ok so I am not sure what to do...we are not sure if we should get a set of fine china or if we should get like a complete set of everyday china and have everything matching (teapot, etc.) i'm not sure if fine china is really the way for us to go...but can assume this will be the only time in my life when someone would buy it for us...! I need help! Which would you register for and why?!!
TIA!

Re: Fine or Casual China??
I registered for fine china and everyday dinnerware. I figured I'll never buy myself fine china, and one day I'd like to host holidays.
I would do casual. I actually didn't register for china b/c we have FH's parents' china but my mom bought me the Mikasa Parchment set which is in between casual and fine.. It's much cheaper than fine china and it's beautiful and looks like fine china.
Honestly, all the married people I talked to say that fine china is a waste of money. You'll probably use it a few times in the beginning but if and when you have little kids running around, you probably aren't going to want to use fine china.

Re: Fine or Casual China??
FH & I already live together and we have 2 sets of casual china so we registered for fine china. I def want to host more holidays. Growing up, my mom would always host & used her fine china all the time so hopefully, I'll take after her

We were only going to register for everyday china, but I found a set of fine that I loved, so now we have both.

Re: Fine or Casual China??
Im just getting Casual China. My grandmother left me her China. I dont see myself using Fine china too much. If I need it at some point, ill get it. Right now I have nowhere to put it.

Re: Fine or Casual China??
Register for both and see what happens! If you register at BBB you can return anything that is bought of your registry for cash. So if you only wind up getting say, 2 place settings for the fine china, you can just return it and get the cash. JIMHO.

Re: Fine or Casual China??
depends on your current living situation. Since DH & I had already been living together before getting married - we already had a housewarming & have a full set of casual/everyday dinnerware. So naturally we registered for fine china for holidays, special occasions, etc.

Both - we have our every day dishes, but then have Mikasa casual china and have yet to decide on the formal china.

Re: Fine or Casual China??
I'm registering for a complete CASUAL china set....i feel fine china can be a waste and my casual china is going to be pretty nice why get 2 different sets? Id rather save my registry for more things!

Re: Fine or Casual China??
It really depends on whether or not you will use the fine china. Orignally when FH and I went to Bed bath and beyond, we registered for both, but after speaking to my 2 FSIL i took it off my registery and just left the causal China. One of my FSIL has one set of the fine china, and the 2 years that she has been married, she has not used them once! My other FSIL did not get the fine china and could not be any more happier (instead she got more gifts that she can actually use everyday).
