Fire Island BP

I hear its the place to be!

Anyone going there for their BP? If you've been there can you recommend where is the best place to stay? Do they have hotels or do you rent a house? TIA

Re: Fire Island BP

I am having mine there. We rent a house for the summer so it just seemed the best option for me/us. We have a place to stay and the fact that you can walk everywhere and do not have to drive is great. We are going to go out Sat night (after my shower...crazy) and then Sunday we can spend the day at the beach.
Our house is in Ocean Beach...and that is where allll the bars and restuarants are. I know the owners of one of the hotels so let me know if you need anymore info

Re: Fire Island BP

I have always wanted mine there, even though I never had a house there , I am a complete Fire Island girl. We go there every weekend by boat. But I recently discovered hotels are to expensive and no one will rent houses for weekends only. Problem with hotels is that you can't rent rooms for only one night. Its looking like rooms alone are about $200 a person (lowest rate I found), thats before food and drinking. If I figure it out I will let you know, but its looking like we have to come up with another plan because my BMs felt it was just to much money to ask of people. I am devastated.

Re: Fire Island BP

I'm having my bp there!!!

We're renting a suite for Friday and Sat. night at the Palms Hotel. The suite sleeps 8, has 2 baths and a deck with grills. The cost of the Suite is about $850 per night...comes out to $225 per person for the weekend. I don't think it's too much, there's TONS of time between now and summer and honestly, most people I know that do destination parties go to DR or Vegas and it's much more expensive.

It's all about choices. Those that can and want to be there, will. Maybe have someone send around an email to guage interest, if anything you can do a smaller suite with fewer girls. If you've always wanted to do it- you shouldn't go without....this is your once in a lifetime event.

Re: Fire Island BP

FI is great, I have been there quite a few times. You get the beach, the bars, and it is only a short ferry ride away. We usually stay at one of the suites in the Bay House, it usually works out to be around 200 pp, depending on how many people sleep over. They have rooms that sleep 4-14 people, so they can accomodate your party. The place is fairly clean for a beach weekend, but you should bring flip flops to wear in the shower. During the summer months, you have to rent the room for the weekend, but it is totally worth it, the girls will have a great time.

I was told no one will rent for the weekend by a family friend who is a real estate person on the island. How did you find weekend rentals?

See most of my friends are all from PA and NJ, we spend probably $200 on their whole b-party weekends max. Its a different world.

Oh yea...that is a different world. I understand. I'm budgeting for $300 for the whole weekend....we'll chip in to buy groceries and cook/grill, have vodka and mixers. Do you have friends here in the City area that you would like to do this with? They might be more accustomed and maybe you can do 2 parties- the Fire Island and then with your friends.

Re: Fire Island BP

We got a house for my friend's in August an it was soooo perfect! After her's I knew I wanted mine there too. We were lucky to get a house for the weekend in August (most houses are for the week in july/august), we didnt get the best house but it was still great. You have a better chance of getting a house for a weekend in may, june, or sept. I am going for mine 6/12-6/14 and we didnt have a problem getting a house. Each girl is contributing $215 for two nights , that includes the house and meals. Everyone also has to bring beer/wine/liquor to share and pay for the ferry and going out to the bars. For two nights it is cheap, if you take a limo to the city for dinner and a club you are talking over 100 pp easy, for under 300 pp you get two nights and 3 days!

Re: Fire Island BP

I know the real estate lady pretty well who gets us our houses that we rent. I can ask her what is available for a weekend. Also, check Craigslist...alot of people who own or even rent for a summer will rent out certain weekends so they can make some money.
