First Dance

I'm starting to have second thoughts about our song choice, The way I am by Ingrid Michaelson. It might be too short, it's only about 2 minutes. The other song we were going to switch to was All of me by John Legend. I don't know if that song is too new and somewhat long (around 5 minutes.) I'm so torn, what do you guys think?

I don't think it's too short.. are you planning to dance just you and your hubby the entire song? If so, it's the perfect amount of time. If you're planning to ask people to join you, maybe choose something longer, or the DJ may be able to edit it so it repeats some verses to make it an extra minute or so. Talk to your DJ about it, they're the pros lol

Love that song! And I actually read somewhere recently that the first dance length is ideally 2-2.5 minutes, so we plan on having our DJ cut ours shorter!

we chose all of me before it became so popular. i worried that people would think it's too long, but now that people know it, they may enjoy it lol.

it really is such a special song to both of us, and for those 4 minutes and 38 seconds it'll be all about us

i want to enjoy that dance as a couple because after that party time is ON!

so dont worry about time, do what you love most.

I too wanted to use All of Me before it got popular but now that it plays everywhere and even a pop-mix version We're most likely going to nix the idea especially when we know a few people will also be playing it for their first dance, we don't want it to be such a repeat. It is such a beautiful song though! GO with your heart and if thats the song for you go for it.

The way I am is a great song. If you want you can also not call others on the dance floor and just spend the 2 minutes the two of you.

I had a REALLY hard time picking a song. As of right now we are doing You and I by Dave Matthews but that can possibly change lol.

We are taking dance lessons with FH's uncle, and he said that most first dance songs are 2-3 minutes long.

The way I figure it, if you're going to dance just the two of you for the whole song, you wanna do something shorter. I know I LOVE weddings, and even I get bored during the first dance. There's only so many times I can watch the couple dance around the dance floor. Lol
