Help ladies!! We have our DJ appointment tonight and STILL haven't picked our first dance song. FH and I got into a really silly fight last night b/c I had several suggestions, and he couldn't come up with anything. I basically overreatce dand said I was hurt he couldn't find ONE song that reminded him us/me.
He stayed up late trying to find a song and woke me up at 2AM to tell me he wants to dance to You Are So Beautiful by Joe Cocker. I told him that this is very sweet, and that we'll decide on one of the songs before the appointment. He basically tells me that he is adament that we use this song.
Its a nice song, but I don't know if its good for a first dance song, b/c I feel like it is too one-sided, i.e comes across as from him to me, rather than about each other. But, I feel terrible not using it after he stayed up hours to find it.
Opinions- what do you think of this a s a first dance song? Am I just being a bridezilla

Re: First Dance Question- a little long
do you genuinely not prefer this song or are you disagreeing for the sake of disagreeing (I've done so many times)?
If you really don't want it as a first dance song, suggest it as a last dance song. You shouldn't dismiss it altogether.

i really would prefer to not use this song, however, if this is one of the few things he feels very strongly about, i suppose i should just let it go? i suppose marriage is all about compromise

Re: First Dance Question- a little long
If you absolutely can't agree on a song and are ok with it, then I say go ahead and use it. its a nice song for a first dance, and it really could be either of you singing it to each other.
DH and I had a ridiculously hard time picking a first dance song because our music tastes are worlds apart. We finally found something that we could both agree on, but it wasnt mine or his first choice. Am I disappointed that our first dance song wasnt something that I classified as 'our' song? Sure, but I got over it...in the grand scheme of things it wasnt the most important thing in the world to me.

Re: First Dance Question- a little long
OK, so we could not pick a song either. We took like 2 dance lessons months b4 but never choreographed anything. We picked a song like 7 days before our wedding. We kept flip flopping between an upbeat song and a slow song. In the end we decided that we wanted to have fun and not waddle around the dance floor and cry, we wanted to party. Needless to say we picked the upbeat song and let me tell you EVERYONE that I spoke to that day and even after said our first dance was awesome. My hubby did a freakin split!! My advice would be to have fun with it. The song is only the song, but the dance should be what you remember. I am sure you have a million 'songs' that remind u of each other or your relationship and if your FH is hell bent on a song maybe it's not the worst thing in the world to give in. But make sure that you enjoy that special time with him and don't worry b/c once you are dancing you will not even care what music is playing :)
