My FI and I are meeting with the band this weekend to go over a song list and we still haven't agreed on a first dance song yet. We both want something old (i.e. Frank Sinatra/Cole Porter/big band), but nothing too overplayed like At Last. TIA.

this is a standard and has been recorded by sinatra, tony bennett, ella fitzgerald, michael buble, etc

I hate that At Last is overplayed. I've always loved that song my whole life and cant tell you how p*ssed off i am that apparently other people like it too! I'm using it anyway..

Do you have AOL? They have an AOL 'radio' station that plays wedding music...maybe you'll hear something that you like!

Don't get me wrong, I like At Last, but my FI is very picky about music and rejects a lot of my suggestions regarding the first dance (we have very different taste in music). I also think my FI and I want something a little different. We originally both agreed on Love Will Keep Us Alive by the Eagles, but then decided we prefer something older and more of a classic.

I know what its like not to want to the use the same songs as everyone else.
I just didnt want to walk down the aisle to the typical stuff. I wanted my guests to be surprised with all my song choices and they DEFINATELY were
I love The first time ever I saw your face, but a lot of people use that too.

Not to sound depressing, but my FI's college roommate used this as his first dance song 2 years ago and his wife was recently killed so we can't use that or any of Louis Armstrong's songs. Don't want to bring up any sad memories or make it harder for his friend.
