First day unemployed...

First day unemployed...

...don't even know what to do with myself. I never took a sick day in the past 5 years and only took personal days when I had something to do. This is the first time in 5 years that I have been home and it isn't because I have an appt in the middle of the day.

So far, I ate breakfast, made the bed, changed the placemats on my table to something springy and lively (had red for Valentine's Day) and dusted a little.

I looked online for some job leads, but nothing new that applies to me.

What do I do now?

Relax, watch some Lifetime TV, catch up on photo albums, send emails to friends you been putting off, read a book, do a manicure/pedicure.

You have to get in relax mode & out of work mode.

do hobby stuff. When I was unemployed I started painting, decoupaging and picked up crocheting again.
I also baked a lot of cookies.

Juliet, you seem to be the kind of woman who enjoys keeping busy and seeing results, so I'm going to give you projects!

First, play this game while I think of some constructive ways to spend your time... Gold Miner

P.S. Do you like chocolate?

i love being home - I could think of a ton of things to do. . .but you are probabaly not as disorganized as me. I could spend a day reorganizing & a day or two jsut cleaning. And then re-arranging photos.
And trying to crochet & playing with my camera, doing some excercise videos, baking. . .

its ok to not look for a job for a little while. Why don't you try some agencies later on in the week.

That was hilarious, Liz!!

As far as chocolate. I like it, but am not obsessed with it. Chocolate mixed with other things is good. Solid chocolate is not always my fave.

Nothing wrong with talking to all of you. I just don't want to spend all day sitting here in my pink polka dot pj's and DH will come home and think I did nothing!!!!

I should probably ride the excercise bike and knit while I am on it, or read or alternate between both.

I guess I am indulging myself in feeling sorry for myself.

Did you hear from HR??

No. Not yet. Do you ever have a reason to stop in there (need to pick up a form or drop off something)? If you go in there, would you mind asking how long it usually takes to get back to people?

I think I would love Scholastic. I would get to meet you in person. I know Cheryl, Tim, and Richard there too!

Thank you! I always liked Scholastic when I was a kid and in college I was said I wanted to go work there. Maybe I will get the chance to do so.

Call some Employment agencies and let them look for you as well.

Catch up with old friends and do all those things around the place you've been putting off.

First Project....BROWNIES! Sorry, it's chocolate, but you can add nuts!

You'll need:
4 squares unsweetened baking chocolate
1 stick butter (or margarine)
2 cups sugar
4 eggs
1 tspn vanilla extract
1 cup all-purpose flour

Preheat oven to 350. Grease 9x13 pan.
Melt chocolate and butter, set aside.
In a large bowl beat eggs, sugar and vanilla until frothy.
Gently fold in chocolate mixture until batter is streaked.
Gently fold in flour. (The batter will be slightly lumpy and textured.)
Pour into pan and bake at 350 for 25-30 minutes, or until a fork, when inserted, comes out clean.

Allow to cool for 10 minutes before cutting.
