First Day visiting halls

First Day visiting halls

FI and I have 'kind of' narrowed down our list of halls to visit this Saturday. Do we need to make appointments?

Thanks for all of the suggestions via FM. In our first rouond of halls, we plan to visit:
Milleridge Cottage
Coral House
Watermill
Floral Terrace
Riviera

FI wants one wedding at a time but I want to check out the other places suggested by brides on this site. I am not from NY (transplant from VA) so I am not familiar with any of the halls other than Swan Club and Fox Hollow, both of which I visited as a wedding guest.

We have no specific date in mind and plan to take notes on what we like/dislike about each hall. We intend to have our ceremony at the hall so any input about the ceremony room at any of the halls I listed are appreciated.

We have about 192 guests on our tentative list but that can be cut down to as low as 130-140 if necessary.

Also, about how long do the visits take? I want to get them all done on Saturday and then try to enjoy the last weekend of the summer.

Thank you all in advance for your advice.

Re: First Day visiting halls

They usually take a little bit... they talk to you show you around, then talk about the price.
The only downside of going on a sat. is alot of places will have weddings going on and either you wont get to see certain areas or if they do let you in you cant walk around and get a good feel of the room. ( know what I mean? lol)

eta. It might be good to narrow down your choice to a few different months and maybe the day of the week or the visits might run really long. Just a thought..

Call the places first. Especially if you're going on a Saturday. They may ask you to make an appt so you can see the rooms, as they may be in use for a wedding!! Good Luck!!

I would make an appointment...most of ours ranged from 20 minutes to an hr...I think you can do all the places if your good with timing..

My opinions on your choices are that I love Milleridge Cottage, I hear they do an GREAT job! I also love Watermill ( obviously) but they are not one wedding at a time, but depending on date they may be...our date is just us, all day! I also like Floral Terrace...I thought Riveria was too small but beautiful views and I didnt like the coral house, they seemed too busy and more then one wedding...

GOOD LUCK!

You should definitely call first, I think you have too few people for the Milleridge Cottage & too many for the Riveria.

I would suggest visiting the North Ritz Club. One wedding at a time. I had my wedding there and they were great, they were on top of every detail.

Good luck and happy planning!!!

ETA: Also when I was looking at halls Dh and I wanted one wedding at a time so that really narrowed down our search. I don't think there are many halls that offer one wedding at a time on LI --- I believe I visited 3 - 4 places.

Re: First Day visiting halls

Glad to hear that you narrowed it down
They are all nice though some may be too small for your party. and SOme definitely dont do 1 at a time.

I can personally speak on the Coral house..there were 2 weddings going on and none of my guests got lost, there were greeters who showed them where to go...and I think I proved they were on every detail since we threw a curve ball at them lol. U know the story.

Definitely taste the food, alot of our choices were cut down because of the types of food some places served and the taste.

Oh and the ceremony at CH is by the lake..that is beautiful. Especially when the ducks are in the background and the swan decideds to pay a visit. NVRBRD got lucky..it landed during their ceremony.
